Data Degredation Verified?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Earlier on this page there were some things about nationwide data degredation (IBM or something, I only saw the responses), what if anything has been verified? -- Susan (I'm also interested in the freight train thing...)

Cory posted about six items on CSY2K at about 1AM this morning. The data loss issue was one of them. If the late hour of his post is any indication, some mainframers are working hard and late working at damage control.

We have had some EDI problems, we got a call from Wal-Mart about a 1900 date we sent to them. Later our mainframe decided that all of our EDI log records were too old, so they went poof. Guess we'll have to send a few more bad records to WM so we can get a picture of what is going on.

We had to make a last minute Oracle change over the weekend to get replication running, and the change has a high likelyhood to cause data corruption from other apps, I got to scramble to check out one of mine, but it worked, whereas I know of another big app that did not and has yet to get repaired (after an 8 hour effort).
