Gladys Peto - Who Was She?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I bought a little drawing a while ago signed by one "Gladys Peto." It shows three little girls jumping rope in front of a large manor house with an even littler girl looking on. On the back of the frame is a little label "skipping". The style is winsome, and the girls' dresses, hair cuts and shoes suggest a 1920s origin. I found a reference on one web site to a book called "Gladys Peto's Merry Times" from the 1930s. That's all I have been able to learn so far. I bought the picture at an antique shop in Knowlton, Quebec. Any information out there on the life and times of Ms. Peto? She appears from what little I have seen to have been a talented illustrator.
