OT Help with my OUTLOOK 2000---PLEASE

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I understand this is not a software forum, however, out of the clear blue my Outlook 2000 has crashed and nothing I do seems to work. I deleted the whole program and reinstalled without change. If you can help me understand what is going on, I will deeply appreciate it.

Call MS -- have very good free support for this

Outlook is not Y2k compliant, per Microsoft. Go to the Microsoft.com web page, check for upgrades. I have upgraded Windows 98 and my browser in the last week. Then I found out that Microsoft Excel is not compliant (as declared in the last week or so), so I backdated my PC. I need Excel to finish my tax/inventory stuff. After I finish it, I won't care.

What? This is just a glitch for christ sake!!! Reboot, if that does'nt work, just go out and buy a new system. Sheesh!!!

Virtually everyone I know who uses Outlook complains about it. Two of my clients use it as their office/network email system and they're always losing stuff and having their systems go belly up on them.

Your best option would be to get a real email program. I use Calypso and it's been rock-solid since day one. I might even get around to registering it one day.

Wave and Responding: Thank you for your input.

Infidel: Do to the fact ladies are reading this board I will not respond in kind. People like you must truly lack something in your life. You have my email address, send me the number to your (valid) credit card and I will be more then happy to buy another computer. If you cant do that, call LL she will listen to you.

Get Rid of Microsoft products. I have an office full of UNIX products that have not been certified y2k compliant and are working fine today. My mail is UNIX from an OS that is 6 years old.... Cant say that for the crummy Outlook program since I believe it didn't exist before Win95.

Call MS and complain then change products. That is the only way that MS will change it's business practices.

My Mac runs just fine - even without any Microsoft applications... How can that be???

-- PNG (png@gol.com), January 02, 2000.

If you are running Win98 go to your windows update and download the fix. If Win 95 it is a different address, microsoft.com/windows95/default.asp. You would probably need to fix the operating system then go to windows update and fix outlook. Good luck
