Vehicle Failures

Does anybody know of ANY failures of automobiles because of embedded chips? If not, I guess this whole embedded chip thing was a hoax.

Dude, I had a problem. I couldn't start the car until my girlfriend pointed out that I had stuff Ruffled Pringles into the automobile ignition. Needless to say, we reached Y2K compliance once I moved over to the passenger seat and she very soberly drove me home.

Nobody said the auto makers used embedded chip systems in their cars. At least nobody in the embedded chips debate. Automobile electronic sensors have no date factors to be affected.

1995 Honda Odyssey -- drove 500 miles today (01/01/2000) -- just got home tonight. No problems. I suppose some chance remains that some embedded system may hit an offset epoch "00" and latch up. Not holding my breath on this.
