New Years Day is a major holiday. People are home with their families. Reporters, who are also people, are home with their families. It's ALWAYS a slow news day, every year.

Me too. Nothing much out there. Work week will probably have much more. Details always usually come later, takes time to work thru the channels. Went to some stores today, everything pretty slow, no one there. Everyone seems to be staying home which is norm for new years day. Seen some things on net which never saw before. Debunkers forum. Wild! Rowdy bunch. Degrading most times.

Everything working wonderfully all over the world, not even any violence reported! Well I must say that this is the first time EVER that there were no problems reported anywhere. God must be working on something here, because we have never done this before!

Yup yup,

I found it very difficult to believe that so little went wrong. Its just not the nature of the software beast. But I dont think its a media blackout persay, Its just that due to years of Y2k testing and remediation of systems Y2k is turning out to be a level 1-2 event.

Some local bank losing its ATM machines or some backwater county losing power just isnt nationwide news, even if it is Y2k related. Lets see what monday evening brings after we complete the first normal day of business. Remeber tho most countried have declared Monday a holiday, so it might take till tuesday or wednesday to see any international events.

The news media is heavily reliant on official government and industry sources for their Y2K information. Don't expect problems to be reported in the press unless they are highly visible and directly affect the public. Last year, there were many major computer problems that had been occurring for weeks or months before they were reported in the press. Examples are VW, P&G, Hersey, and the DOD system which processes security clearances.
