Gary North's "Incredible Shrinking Web site"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I am a true admirer and fan of Dr. Gary North, but I'm just wondering what's up with his Incredible Shrinking web site (his direct mirror www.remnant.org, too).

I don't thnk it's hackers and I truly don't believe Gary needs to feel like he has to remove his latest links....

The links have been diminishing all day.
They first backed off from his two Jan.1/2000 posts, to only up to Dec.28/99, and now they have been deleted back to Dec.13/99 (with not only all links removbed, but the pages themselves too, it appears.

Any explanations, Dr. North, or anyone in the know??

This is serious.

No Trolls or Pollies, please.

Gary North asked everyone to use the new mirror page and that page is fine LINK and main categories are all there too. There may be some glitch with the main page - remember it was down for a few days there.

Me, Try this: http://www.stexel.org/north/latest_.cfm.htm His posts from the past few days are there. GN cautioned his readers yesterday to use his other sites.

Thanks Sheri, 'N all. I know some other mirrors work, but my concern is the one I believe HE controls directly.
I don't mean to jump to any conclusions.
I hope all is well with GN. He really is an honorable man, no question.
Indubitably.

There was early speculation that hackers may be to blame, or it may be server overload. I wouldn't worry though.

Here is the story directly from a daily distribution of GN's latest links: "Dr. North's website has been hacked. It is being restored from a backup database, but until then, only the official Mirror Sites are up."

At the end of each day, or the next morning, all GN's latest links can be sent to you by email. It is very convenient to stay up, especially if you can't visit daily.
