Yes, same here. Hacker perhaps? Someone deleting his files?

Gary's explanation as to why his site isn't working can be found at: http://www.prorege.com/north/7318.html

the site works fine as far as getting in. no sweat. but someone is deleting all the categories, one by one. it's not because of traffic, either.

It's a hack job. Most likely by polly trolls.

Just lovely how you use 'polly trolls' as the generic excuse for everything.

How about the Gary has decided to play 'duck and cover' and is removing all his stuff about Y2K, and getting ready to replace it with NWO, CyberTerrorism, Contrail/Chemtrails and similar trash.

You want solid predictions? Take that one as a promise.

Yeah, polly trolls are going to fix Gary's site up so he can keep on with his nonsense. Oh yeah.

I went t one of the alternate sites and watched it being gobbled before my eyes. Pretty wild considering one moment I was readng a Jan 1 post and then go back and nothing!

Good riddance.

Maybe North is trying to cover his tracks, lay the groundwork for the next great disaster, and claim y2k bugs killed his site all at once! And you gotta give North credit, he understands wackos well enough to fund a pretty damn ritzy estate. He has an undeniably superb grasp of the notion that you can fool some of the people ALL of the time. He understood Doomer Selective Amnesia Syndrome before -bks- was out of grade school. The rapid repositioning on this forum to "We were right all along because we did the right thing" would be a laff riot, except North knew it all along, and has made a career out of it.

And I think Brett believes the mythical polly trolls are also responsible for bad weather, while the heroic doomies cause the sun to rise each day. It's people like Brett who have made North what he is today.

preface: Love Gary--read him weekly--smart historian--sometimes very funny commentary.

Question: Did any of you buy one of those special oil filters he was suggesting. :-)

Flint, sometimes you come across as being even more extreme than Gary North. Looks like you are really carrying some heavy grudges against people that you don't agree with.

-- Dave (dannco@hotmail.com), January 01, 2000.

Dave:

I regard North as a deliberate, conscious manipulator, drawn to the gullible like any con man. Which has made him undeniably wealthy. Yes, I recognize that there is a small minority with a strong Will To Believe, who will follow *somebody* off almost any cliff. But I don't have any respect for those who fleece them while leading them off that cliff. I have no use for those who take advantage of other peoples' weaknesses.

This doesn't have much to do with whether I agree or not. I sincerely admire many on this forum with whom I disagree. And I bear no grudge against, say, Paul Milne. He's a screwball, but he's sincere. North is a con artist.

if someone is eating the primary site...won't the mirrors just follow as a reflection????

It seems obvious to me that hackers would target his site....they like places with low security and high visibility.

GN is 'undeniably wealthy'? got any stats or information that supports that? would love to read it ...
