Aloha Everyone!

Well it has been real and I for one am very happy to say "I have been had" by *computer experts* so it seems? Anyway I don't regret one thing that I did about it, I would do it again if I felt danger:)

But now the real fun begins and it is going to start with this bookmark *DELETE* and so on until >>>ALL Y2K SITEs<<< are in the recycle bin!

And then I am going to empty all of this trash!

I would like to say there are some good people here with some good intentions and it has been real!

Ed, thanks again! I admire your courage to walk out on that limb:) Remember people being *WRONG* is a good thing, not a bad thing!!!

Finally I would really like to encourage the whole world to think about this as hard as they have about y2k!

***What would LOVE really do*** please learn to do it:)

Love and Aloha!

Lokelo,

You are not alone in your plans.

Aloha from me - Hawaii is the most beautiful place I ever was privileged to see. My name in Hawaiian is Kalona.

Lokelo,

Have a nice walk along that beach - wish I could join you.

By the way - don't be too quick to dismiss Y2k as a non-event. Thank God that we have power, water, etc. BUT I for one will not believe we are "out-of-the-woods" until I see that the Federal and State government programs, and those of mid/small size businesses still function.

In other words, PLEASE take some time to THINK on that beach walk. The situation is much too complex to dismiss without critical thought.

AND that CRITICAL THOUGHT is exactly what "computer experts" like Yourdon were trying to promote.

Best wishes,

Greg

ALOT of farms? That's quite a stretch. I lived on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island, total of about 12 years. Nice place to 'visit'. Miss it often, but sure wouldn't want to get stuck there. Don't miss cockroaches in my car or driving in one big circle either! Good and bad anywhere you are. I prefer more than one season.

Me thinks you've been huffin' too much Plumeria my friend. Listen to Greg and avoid screwing the pooch. :)

My family and I moved to the Big Island as our "bug out" from the New York area. We chose this area because of its "potential" as a good place to weather out any Y2K storms.

We produced a Y2K TV show which is now playing on three of the islands and have been trying to get people to prepare for a year.

People on these Islands, for the most part, are in denial and are tying to keep the illusion of paradise going for as long as they can.

They all think they can resort to the things their ancestors did to survive, but our research among hundreds of "locals" is that less than 10% could be self-suffieient NOW if they had to. It will take some time to revert back to the "old ways".

I am very curious to see what will happen to tourism over the next few months.

The commercial farmers here are main-lining pesticides because we get 18 new bugs introduced here every year with no winter to kill them off.

If a commercial farmer goes without a week of spraying he can lose his crop. So what will happen when the oil business finally falls apart and, along with shipping problems, the pesticides don't get here?

The "potential" is here, definately, but the reality is a long way away.

That said, there is nowhere else I'd rather be. I know I have a long way to go in my quest to have people understand what is really happening and what we have in store for the future, but doing it here has its rewards.

Remember, Y2K will most likely come at us like the "death of a thousand cuts". Unfortunately, getting people to prepare now will be very hard, because everyone expected a "big bang".

But I'll begin solving that one on Monday. Right now I'm going to take my family out for a beautiful day at the beach.

Take Care

Keith

Hmm, isn't that sort of like saying that, "Because the first bullet missed me, I can safely declare that the war is over, and that we won a decisive victory!"
