I am so happy that everything is still normal. The family is gathered around the tv watching football, I have dinner cooking on my electric range, the telephone is ringing and all is right in my little world today. I have plenty of food that we like to eat and I discovered that I love to can and my garden will be even bigger this spring. I never knew just how ignorant I was about our economy, government, banking and investments until I started preparing for y2k. I have even learned from the trolls that post here. If we aren't in a depression in the next year, then I will never complain about the small stuff again.

I am so thankful for your post...I am a single parent who has squirreled away little by little all last year, & today I am feeling a little let down as well as embarressed. But still, my daughter & I are watching an old Disney movie, & I took a hot bath today (one of the biggest luxuries I was expecting to have to do w/o). I so appreciate your perspective. I, too, have learned a great deal & want to take stock of that learning over the next few weeks as we ride this thing out.

What a great day it is, indeed! I too, took a nice hot bath which is a real luxury to me. We are warm, food in the house, a sense of relief that we have made it over the huge hurdles, freedom to continue to worship the Lord and much to be thankful for. :-) All the preparing for the past year and a half has taught me to not take convenience for granted...it could still be gone tomorrow. I don't care if others laugh at me because we prepared. Can't describe the contented feeling of knowing that we will be enjoying all of our "prepared in advance" meals with friends and family. Water is so vital to the body and we have plenty of that...a luxury to some in other countries who must drink bacteria infested water. With this nice woodstove, we are ready for our next winter snow storm. I look at our generator as insurance...glad that we have it. Those who never even prepared for y2k....they will never know what we experienced and learned through it. I am thankful and feel blessed for all that we have. Just thought that I would share a little today. Hope you don't mind. :-) Blondie

Yes. I'm happy today for much the same reasons. Every day past rollover when my life is not directly disrupted or degraded by the effects of the Y2K bug is all to the good. And every day that goes by where I have to hunt for the bad news instead of waking up to find it is hunting me, well, it is sweet. The longer that stays true, the less likely it will ever be true.

So, today is sweet. Every day like it will be sweet, too. I still do not believe any of what is to come is guaranteed to stay this sweet, but boy does it feel good for now!

How on earth can *anyone* be happy cooking on an *electric* range???

(We're *still* waiting for the propane company to hook up our propane range. At least they hooked up our generator before the end of December!)

Ron, FYI I have a wood cookstove but the electric range is so much more user friendly than the wood one. I am just happy I have electricity and can use it.
