This morning (for me) I was in Bok's chat room and we were all talking about the events that have been transpiring with rollover. The mood was not jubilant for many....I had just posted to both Texas and TB2000 sites and was thrilled at our current status...hope it stays that way....time will tell... But, and this brings me to my point, there was one member of this forum ( I will not name names) who was beyond angry. I am very concerned for this individual. They had planned on a TEOTWAWKI and since it didn't transpire at midnight, they had "lost" it.

I am sure that there are others out there who like this individual are feeling extreme pressure to kick themselves and fold up shop. Please, PLEASE stop and smell the roses! Life is good! Be happy at how this is going. It isn't over and you shouldn't be kicking yourself for doing your best and becoming more independent. If you need support, please come back to the chat room or e-mail some of us (if you have our addresses).

And some of the more strident pollies out there are not helping either. I repeat, IT IS NOT OVER, and I sincerely hope this continues as it has already, but you are pushing some members of this forum over the edge. It is not a game as you would have it. Think before you post or spam. This is an intensely emotional time...not a time for silly juvenile games and name calling. You may be responsible for something you will regret with all of you baiting.

I don't think it's over by a long shot. How many hits have been taken taken below the visible water line?

We won't know for awhile. Meantime I'm grateful to have a hot shower, and grateful to get prepared for most anything.

One thing that hasn't changed about the West Coast... we're STILL living on "shakey" ground.

CNN has just reported that the national situation room has just gone "yellow". That is, that glitches have happened. I think everyone should remember that we are still in a "holiday" footing with many systems still either powered down or not tested fully in a "live" situation.

Thank God that as of now the embedded issue seems to have been far overblown and it didn't blow up literally!!!

My feeling is that this is going to take a LONG time to play out and people currently feel, for some reason, a let down because the power stayed on, nukes didn't launch and chemical facilities didn't go kaboom.

FWIW, we are still living in the same world that existed prior to the rollover. That is to say that we are still reliant upon self-reported data and .gov spin. It may take weeks or months to get the real story but thankfully no one has been killed, no areas threatened.

My guard will remain up for quite some time. However, to feel disappointment because we aren't at a 10 already seems a little strange to me.

Smell the roses is right. "Shakey" ground is right. It's Saturday, less than 10 hours after the rollover occured for us on the West Coast... and somehow I think it's truly bizarre that anyone would suggest this is a non-event yet.

But, we do live in a culture where a drama must play out to it's conclusion before the trailers roll and while the popcorn stand is still open.

For me, I'm gonna go play with my son, continue to plan for the future and keep an ear to the ground because this aint over by a long shot.

While I think it's premature to rule out a nasty, lingering y2k, I do think TEOTWAWKI is out of the question. As for me, I ate and drank heartily last night and had a blast. No big worries when the ball dropped.

While as you all say "the fat lady has not yet sung," I say we have much to be thankful for. Honestly.

Terrorists did not destroy our infrastructure in a coordinated attack.

North Korea did not roll across the border, mowing down our troops and wiping out Seoul.

Iraq did not roll into Saudi Arabia.

The Russians did not nuke us "by accident."

The power grid and telecom grid did not fall. My credit union is still giving me the correct account balance over the phone.

I am starting to feel a little foolish for getting so worked up about this y2k thing. Again, I am not saying we've yet seen the worst, but I already know that the worst, most fearsome scenarios are clearly not going to happen. So HAPPY NEW YEAR!! TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND KICK BACK TODAY (if you have the chance)!! And by the way, here-here Donna.

Coprolith, I'm with you buddy, a lot of very bad things that could have happened didn't, and we are out of the woods as far as Teotwawki goes. Stock market crash, rising unemployment, recession, and possibly depression my still be in the cards, but we're not talking a postman scenario any more, and for that I am truly grateful.

I'm not sure why the need to be "right", whatever that may be, supercedes the well being of the planet and its inhabitants. I for one don't care if not a thing happens as a result of Y2k- I'm just thankful that there were not terroist attacks, no nukes went off, no major failures as of yet, no riots or looting, etc. I will happily consume my stock of canned tuna all year long- with a big smile on my face if all continues to go well. No regrets.

I totally agree with you, except for the part about feeling a bit foolish. I made a decision using the best information available at the time. The majority of my preps were done around August. If I had to do it over, I would do the same.

The polly crowd is using lack of early failures as proof for complete vindication. This is akin to claiming victory in a basketball game after scoring the first hoop.

Even though (at this early stage) it looks like we will suffer minimal disruption, we definitely need to wait weeks to be sure. Those that think rollover was the ballgame are being premature.

I am certainly glad we have not suffered major problems so far.....

The sad part is, those of us that held this scenario as likely and said so the last year or two got nothing but being constantly trashed and called Pollies and much worse.

I suppose that is what one gets when trying to be a voice of reason to extremists.........

I did and still do support a reasonable level of preps for any potential emergency and my beef is not with those people.

To the arrogant, mean-spirited extremist doomers however who constantly held this puffed-up attitude that only they had the KEYS TO TRUTH and everyone else was a DGI, hopefully you have learned something and do not go jumping onto the next 'End of the World' bandwagon.
