Anyone from Southeast MICHIGAN out there? (Ron Schwarz, etc.)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just heard a lady call Art Bell from Eastpointe Michigan who said the power had gone out. I am wondering if the power utility may have just switched over to generators, which might not bode well for the long term if they have any serious problems. I know people in that area and am concerned. Any information?

Central Michigan here, no problems.

I'm in west central MI (the "West Coast", a tad south of Ludington). We just got inside from shutting down and stowing the generators after running them from just before midnight GMT to just after midnight PST. Did not want to run the risk of getting zapped by dirty power. It's happened in the past, and I'm tired of buying new stuff. Hey, if it's good enough for the SSA, the VA, Corning, and the rest of the big boys, who am *I* to argue? An ounce of prevention (or in this case, a few gallons of propane) is worth a pound of cure.

In other words, I don't know if there were any outages here. [g]

I think DrVideo (or is it VideoProff? dang, I'm tired...) is from SE MI somewhere near Detroit. You might want to email him, I think he uses his real address.

Thanks very much for that info guys, I'll see what else I can find out in the morning.

Great Job, Hawk. You're an idiot...and a loser

Here in the middle of the Mitten the CDC occurred without a hitch. No power outage, no blips or burbs.

CJS, is that you again silver ion? Why don't you make up your mind who you are and quit being a troll. I'm glad you think that because I heard someone report an outage in Michigan that I am an idiot, but a loser? Watch your step there pal, or you may find yourself having to tell me that to my face, and you won't like what happens if you do that.

Hawk,

I'm in Washtenaw County (SE Mich). No problems that I can see so far, but I haven't left the house yet.

Hawk,

Just got back from my mom and dad's (Oakland Co.). I noticed nothing unusual.

Thanks eve, and all. Looks like the outages in that area were brief, and hopefull they've got it under control. As cold as it is out there, I hope any outages don't last very long!
