May a wayward rocket hit the home of 'milnefan'...just for the irony of it.

Demius, thanks for hitting the nail square on the head.

Right now, the major schools of thought seem to be:

1) Maybe the impacts were exaggerated, and it won't be so bad after all.

2) The media are covering up the problems, which really are as bad as predicted. Tune in tomorrow/next week when they can't be covered up any longer.

3) God passed a miracle, fixing bbbillions of embedded systems at once.

4) The Yourdon position, that "nobody really expected what I predicted was the most likely scenario", so good news still doesn't count.

5) The real problems have yet to show up, and if you wait a week, or a month, or a quarter, disaster will arrive on schedule after all.

6) Preparations are good things to have in any case, so those who sank big time and money into them are justified even if they did so out of unwarrented paranoia, and will never need them.

7) Hey, *I* never said problems were guaranteed, I just said they were possible. When I said that anyone who doubted the worst was an idiot, I was just being ironic, honest.

My guess is that #6 will end up being the "official truth" on this forum.

So let's see we have y2k "I've figured it all out in 10 minutes" pro

AND

"I've figured it all out in 30 minutes" Flint...

Morons the pair of them.

Stick around Flint, 1 trillion dollars wasn't spent to fix a ZX 80...

OK, Andy votes for #5. A good choice, since there are sure to be problems later.
