If there were a true terrorist threat, all cities would have been locked down. I agree, it was a hoax...Seattle took it seriously and was used as an example.

While I sincerely wish it was a hoax I'm also pretty sure it isn't.

So we caught a few terrorists, some with explosives and detonators. Does anyone think that the FBI is likely to get 100% of these folks, no matter how good the FBI may be (and, unstylish as it may seem, I have a great deal of respect for their abilities and dedication).

Now, personally I thought that New Year's Eve would have been a tempting time for them to strike and make their statement. Since it's only 5 minutes before 11pm PST here that may still come to pass. Hope not and keeping my fingers crossed.

Thing is though, we really won't know for a week or so whether or not these folks have released anything nasty. We wouldn't necessarily know until hostipal ER's started filling up with people getting sick because some of these "bugs" (biologicals) have incubation periods of up to two weeks. Some of the bad ones cause their hosts to become infectious long before they become symtomatic.

Then too I doubt ALL terrorists have a death wish. With thousands of cops in Times Square wouldn't it make sense to hold off a couple days for when the surviellance has relaxed a bit and then hit a sports stadium or other large gathering? If you wanted to hit targets all over the U.S. on New Years Eve would you necessarily want to tip your hand early by hitting NY at rollover? How about synching on the west coast rollover? (gawd...I better be wrong about that one...don't want any official visitors).

I wish us all the best of luck, hope wisdom wins out, and we all find 2000 a peaceful year for all citizens of the world. And I'd REALLY like to be proven wrong about all of this...keeping fingers crossed.
