Saturday January 1, 12:01 am Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: EVOTE.COM EVOTE.COM Suffers Massive Y2K Meltdown; McKinley is President and It's 1900 All Over Again EVOTE.COM Reverts to 1900 When the Clock Hit Midnight, January 1, 2000; Teddy Roosevelt and Susan B. Anthony Are Suddenly the Talk of the Day BOSTON, Jan. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- EVOTE.COM, the leading political news and features website suffered a major information meltdown when its servers mis-read the date as the Y2K rollover happened, and suddenly it was January 1st, 1900 instead of the first day of the Year 2000. Instead of articles about Hillary Clinton's Senate run, Bill Clinton's waning days in office, the George W. Bush steamroller, and the floundering House Republicans, the EVOTE.COM front page points to stories about President McKinley's choice for veep (looks like Teddy Roosevelt has the inside track), Susan B. Anthony and her campaign to get women the right to vote (pretty radical stuff), and the latest doings of the (then-young) Senator Strom Thurmond.

``We just don't know what happened,'' offered Mike Jarnska, Director of Network Operations for EVOTE.COM. ``We spent millions on Y2K consultants, issued all the usual Y2K disclaimers, attended all of the expensive Y2K conferences -- just like everyone else in American business. And then 'poof', the clock hits Midnight, and McKinley is President and EVOTE.COM thinks Bill Clinton isn't even born yet,'' exclaimed a disappointed Jarnska.

EVOTE.COM network operations staffers, editors, and reporters will be working through the night and all through January 1st, 1900 (oops, we mean 2000) to fix the problem. During the day, you can see the botched front-page at http://www.evote.com; afterwards, you can find it at http://www.evote.com/Y2K because we're pretty sure the problem will be fixed by January 2nd, and EVOTE.COM will return to its usual award-winning commentary on the U.S. political scene.

EVOTE.COM, a unit of Ideacast, is the leading political news, features, and entertainment website on the Internet, offering a wide range of U.S. political articles, news coverage, cartoons, and shopping.
