Well guys my wife and I could have been at the BIGEST PARTY possible but she is down from working nights as a nurse,it's really killing her. Yes ,the big town of "BRASSTOWN, NC" has a local party during the bring in of the NEW YEAR. The party is named, The YEAR 2000 Possum Drop. really!!! Our local paper mentions how at the strike of 12:00pm/am local residents watch the dropping of the Possum. According to the paper, "While New Yorkers mark the countdown to the century with an electricified ball, local people will mark the event with the dropping/lowering of a live OPOSSUM in a glass cage at midnight". Oh, we will also miss the "Ms.Opossum contest, a one-of-a-kind beauty pageant" which began at 9pm tonight, DARN !!!

Dang Furie, if you leave now you'll at least make the Opossum drop. I mean, how can you pass that one up? Tell me, is CNN or MSNBC going to be there for live coverage? Maybe we'll all be able to watch it on TV.

Hey, I"m not making this up really, the small antique town of "Brasstown,NC" really has this, "Opossum Drop", the town is located in Clay County next to the famous "John C Campbell Folk School". But the "Opossum Drop" is at "Clay's Corner" a convenience store located in Brasstown... I only wish I knew how to post a picture of the event on this forum,so others could see it for real...
