Yo--Ed and Others, We are Prepared and Thankful

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Yes, I am thankful tonight. I became concerned of y2k's impacat a year ago. I found Ed and this forum because of that concern. I have learned a great deal and am thankful for two things: 1) Ed and the forum and 2) A non-chaos rollover. I too have talked to family members and friends about the impact of y2k. I am THANKFUL we appear to have missed the major chaos associated with the rollover. I am convinced we have many y2k trials and tribulations to overcome in the next 6 months.

I found an educated, insightful visionary in Ed for this challenge. I learned from all of you and your posts in the past year and am more prepared because of that involvement. I am not embarrased because today went well (and with that my hope that it ends well). I do not have to be "right". It is enough to be safe. I believe the impact of y2k is yet to come, in the supply chain disruptions and economic impact. I expected no word of either impact today.

For today, I am thankful for good friends & family, good associates, Ed, y'all, and an apparantly non-chaotic rollover today. Happy Happy New Year and Millenium!

God Bless.

Farm girl,

I was under the impression that farmers don't count their chickens until they hatch . Notwithstanding that bit of caution, I think we all agree: so far, so good...

Yes, thank you very very much, and god bless you.

Thank you, Ed. I wouldn't change one thing my family has done; we're all the better for making them.

And no, it's a mite early for crow casserole....

May I echo the appreciation of the previous posters? Thank you. Ed, even though it's early and it's not over 'til it's over. (And maybe the fat lady will sing?) I hope everything goes smoothly from here to eternity, but in case it doesn't, we're prepared for a little more than a long weekend of outages. It's been a very educational venture, and I for one wouldn't want to have missed it.

For your efforts, and the efforts of all of the other 'alarmists' and all those programmers who have been slaving for however long, many sincere 'thanks' are long overdue. Isn't it great, that just because they partly didn't want the 'doomers' to be right, that they worked their little heads off and it may have just paid off! (We know that many things can still go wrong, but much of the tension is al- leviated.

I hope there won't be terrible 'flame wars'. As Rodney King said: "Can't we all get along?"

Happy New Millennium!

Though its a bit early yet, I've always chosen to eat my crow under an electric light. It is much better than Spam by candlelight. Thanks Ed and all the forum regulars for 18 months of info and a bit a fun at times.
