911 down in LA?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just heard on the radio (5:15 Pacific time) that Los Angeles area reported a "glitch" with a 911 system, but it was just a software problem so not Y2K.

??? Whatever.

Does anybody have new information on this? I do not have a URL as it was a radio story. Thanks.

No problem will be called a Y2K problem, just as no laywer ever had a client who was guilty.

This is something I don't THINK I've ever seen clarified. IF there's some type of computer problem due to bugs introduced during remediation FOR the Y2K bug, is it totally true to say it's not y2k related? I suppose in my estimation the first guy in a line of traffic that slams on his breaks is just as responsible for the poor slob in the fourth car who slams into the third. Is that a fair analogy or no? So,is it fair to say that problems that stem from remediation IS y2k related? I'm just wondering. I'm personally thrilled that at this point in time there doesn't seem to be any serious problems...unless of course you wanted to go play the slots up the road...rofl.

LOL Beej. No, I don't think I'll miss the slots that just went down. Every time I gamble I lose. I'll just keep my ears open, thanks.

It was KFWB that I heard it on.

They said Palmdale and Lancaster (unless there are three outages in 911). And since things are going so well, they openly blamed it upon Y2K.
