Was just down at the local Safeway store about 2:00 p.m. Extremely busy, long lines. Bottled water shelf was completely stripped. One shopper was asking a stock person if there was any more in back. He replied... Were completely out. This is unusual.

The canned goods isle had about half their normal supplies. An oddity? Almost all the tooth brushes were gone. Go figure.

A close relative stopped by CostCo yesterday and noticed that as they were unloading huge palates of bottled water, people were rapidly snapping them up.

(California Wine was still well stocked).

Stopped in at the local Safeway and noticed things a bit crazy. Went to get a loaf of sourdough bread (friend's coming for dinner) and motrin (sick child). No problem w/the meds, but bread was in short supply (had to get a sourdough baguette instead of the large loaf I usually get - or it would have been a 45 min. wait). Speaking w/the head of the bread dept., she told me that bread had sold out every day for the past week - something she hasn't seen in the 2 years she's been w/the store.

Another person told my that TOP foods would be closed tomorrow (apparently a first for them) because of computer problems - no interface? Local Fred Meyer's was also supposed to be busy, with 25 minute waits in check out lines.

Glad I prepper early, but now don't think I'll need some of the stuff immediately (nice to have handy though - know I'll use them up over time).

Dittos, forget the water just give me the wine! WalMart was stripped of water (they've been out for 2 days now), ammo almost gone, no candles, no propane, only demo cook stoves left. Almost every basket had TP and paper towels. Foods 4 Less had bottled water, they just got a shipment in and people were buying like crazy. They had plenty of TP and chili - I guess the two go together. Cars lined up at gas stations and fast foods restaurants. I guess people were getting their Big Mac fix before the roll over. Got my scanner and I hope my puter doesn't take a dive. Have a safe and Happy New Years.

I guess people in Phoenix listen to CNN. Last night at 6 pm at COSTCO there was a mob scene...I bought the last 3 boxes of Saltine crackers, and amid dozens of empty crates there were meybe 3 or 4 packs of D cells.

Today, 2 hours before they closed, they were COMPLETELY restocked, and everything was back to normal. WOW!

Dear Lady, there you go! Shooting from the hip again! You know very well, that the actual test will come (for the soft ware) on the 3rd of January. And the embeds will not be tested untill the pipe lines, chemical plants, manufactoring plants,oil refineries etc. are all allowed to be brought back on line (Remember your ladyship! They where for the most part removed from service and shut down to avoid y2k roll over). And thusly, for all intents and purposes, do not exhist (since they ae not in opeation). And so there forth they cannot fail (untill they are brough back on line to face 01/01/2000).

So, my Lady; be a lady! And abide your time, hold your antisipation of being herald as the great Sage you so want to be. Untill the actual time for the contemplated disasters has actually passed. Your exhuberance does your ego little good, and you pesonality none.

I Love America...ohmigod, you had to get a baguette instead of a large loaf. Remember, CNN ain't hanging out with the kids going to sleep cold and hungry in many parts of the world (they not part of the ad base).

Let's hope people STAY STOCKED for future unforseen events and be glad Y2K was (for the most part) caught in time.
