what type of missles?..icbm's?,,, from where to where?

-- (renos1@hotmail.calm), December 31, 1999.

SCUD missiles were launched due to Y2K glitch. Countries where these were launched was not released - didn't have to because "Missiles' range was less than 500 KM". Direct quote!

No one knows... Air Force Major said YES, there are three confirmed launches. All three within 500 mile radius.

So they are non-reportable.

ABC Correspondents is speculating that they are sending Scuds into Chechneya....

Major General Harry Raduege was speaking from Chyanne Mountain.

Could be Y2k, or maybe just Russia using Y2k as a convienent excuse to get a few shots off?

Somebody is playing some very dangerous games.

-- Nikoli Krushev (doomsday@y2000.com), December 31, 1999.

According to Reuters, it's just the russian's hammering away at their chechen (spelling help?) neighbors. not y2k, except that they chose to launch during y2k.

And look, a link ot boot: http://www.newsday.com/ap/rnmpin1b.htm

Hey Deb M, you said....

'SCUD missiles were launched due to Y2K glitch. Countries where these were launched was not released - didn't have to because "Missiles' range was less than 500 KM". Direct quote!'

Where did you hear these SCUD missiles were launched due to a 'Y2K glitch'? I've seen two live reports in the last hour (one from NORAD on CNN) and nobody is suggesting that this has ANY relationship to Y2K. In fact, one of these SCUDs was detected two days ago as well. It's all about Grozny.

Look,

I quoted what I HEARD on T.V., on ABC News. Sure, you can quote CNN and the later AP article, but I was posting what I heard, AS I heard it. Lay off.

Look,

I heard the same thing Deb heard. I believe it was speculation from the talking heads.

OMIGOD!!!

Maybe Yeltsin had a duplicate set of keys made for the missiles before he quit and cleaned out his desk!

He is a madman. We're all gonna die!!! :-)

Last report I heard was that these SCUDS were intentional launches against the Chechans.

I wonder what type warheads were mounted for this mission? The Russians been warning the Chechans for some time that big things would be done to bring the conflict to a halt by New Year's. Maybe Boris resigned because he wanted no part of nuking or gassing anyone?
