In western suburbs of Chicago, the phone system (Ameritech) is intermittantly giving "The area code you dialed is not available" when dialling local numbers (ie within same area code).

Ameritech has been having problems intermittantly since October. I was having problems with my ATM card in October and 2 different tellers from 2 different banks told me that the Ameritech's lines had been adversely affecting many banks in Southern WI. All I know is that they blamed Ameritech. Well, that is my 2 cents...

Ameritech has had recurring problems since I was in South Bend in 1996. Their company has more problems than you can list. They don't NEED y2k to have problems.
