If you want to keep in touch with local things lets keep them all in one place to reference. I emailed sysops with info to get verification for the info I will be posting. You can contact them if you have any doubt it is legit...stay tuned...expect the grid to stay up!

hi dinty. i am up in goshen, county seat for elkhart county. my husband jon works in computer services. their company, xcel computer systems, in osceola near south bend (http://www.xcelcomputer.com) has the day off today for new year, in anticipation of being very busy on monday. but jon went in to work as is taking phone calls from customers trying to do backups and having a hard time. he has been able to talk thru most of them on the phone, but has had to go onsite for one of them. i offered to go in and answer phones. i might have to later on.

i am a ham in Skywarn, and ARES/RACES and have some work to do in that area today as well. i am helping a friend put up an HF horizontal loop antenna at the NWS this afternoon. this antenna kicked butt in the NWS/ARRL contest on thanksgiving weekend. this is the antenna that Bill Schenker,MD, mentioned over on the TB Preparation forum.

i'll try to let you know how things are going, if i have a chance.

oops, forgot to mention that the xcel website has a y2k page with links to all the major free y2k patches out there that you might need, for windows including NT, ms office, corel office, lotus page, autodesk info, etc. for anybody who waited until the last minute and is trying to find them.

i just got the MS latest y2k disk yesterday. talk about sending it at the 11th hour and 59 minutes!

Hi Everyone!

Whew, I couldn't get on forever. Kept getting server busy signal. The threads are moving faster than I have ever seen them. My husband left at 3pm for his y2k / terrorist watch. He will be calling in with inside scoop on utilities. He thinks everything will be fine as far as the tech end goes but he is quite concerned about the terrorist end of things...in general. Not necessarily Indiana. We are around Indpls area. Keep your fingers crossed!!! He's much the Poly, but he has worked hard to get the place compliant so I don't give him much grief!:> but I will hear I told you so after today though!:> He does think we will run into some supply issues. Let's keep this thread or similar one going through next week. I took the week off just to follow things.

Count me in, I will keep watching. Thanks for all the info MdM.

Things looking good here...some minor trouble in other states. I'm a little worried as he isn't answering pages and hasn't called in for about 2 hours...that wasn't in the game plan.

hmmmm,

Still no answer to page...very strange indeed....maybe he's working on the Jefferson county thingy....
