Disappearing Glitch In New Zealand

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I do not believe that we are on the brink of disaster but I do believe that there will be some serious Y2K problems ahead........problems we'll weather. I'm always up at 4 A.M. so I was watching CNN this morning and I did see something interesting when New Zealand brought in the new year. They were talking about their Y2K board and how it was set up with red, yellow and green lights to alert for Y2K problems. A yellow light came on and they were talking about it being a medical service - then they went on to something else. Next I heard New Zealand welcomed the millennium with all green lights. I know what I saw folks, so what happenned to it?

I am still waiting for a NZ poster. Why isn't anyone on here letting us know first hand? Any thoughts on this?

Why no NZ posters? Well, because it's 0430 there, and most have got more sense than us Aussies. I'd insert an obligatory crude Aussie joke about Sheep and New Zealanders here, but in the interests of decorum, won't.

The Oz Y2k Co-ordination Centre site is http://203.2.193.77

Last updated at 0235 local time (though the server's in Brisbane, so it's only 0135 there, as Queensland unlike the rest of Eastern Australia doesn't believe in Daylight Saving. Quite clever really, having the Y2k server 1 hour behind the majority of the country Just In Case)

Remember to SHIFT-Refresh to force reload from the server, rather than rely on your ISP's cache. Otherwise you will almost certainly get stale data due to physical distance and intervening buffers/caches.

Ooooooooohhhhh! A yellow light! Surely a sign that the apocalypse is upon us.

Rollie, I'm with you - sort of. Yellow light, no big deal, but does it not interst you that the CNN lied about it? Does it not lead you to wonder what else you're not being told?
