Cutting It Close.... finally getting my

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Talk about cutting it close, I purchased an Lp gas generator before we started on our new home here in the mountains. Well I finally got it running today just two days or so to go, what a pain ! I found out the genny works only off liquid lp gas, well the gas company doesn't sell liquid lp gas tanks. I guess there isn't any call for them up here. So the next best thing is to have tank pressure to the genny. And guess what ? It works just fine, now I have a few items to hook up and I guess my family and I will be as ready as possible.

I do wish to thank Phil and Ed for their patience with downtime the past two days. I hope that we have all learned things we would have never wondered about. I know I have, I hope also that my suggestions to the the readers of this forum helped them also. The very best of planning can always be helpful when there are friends like you readers, THANKS !!!

Hey you guys, do we get membership cards?

We just installed our manual well-pump yesterday evening. Works well and we're proud of ourselves (puffing chest out).

I'm glad we've got 'em in--even at this late date.

Well, If your giving out membership cards, I deserve one. Please understand that I have a DWGI wife that will soon turn into a OMG wife. I have everything covered, with backups for the backups. The only thing lacking was food and food only. I thought, spouse might get a little neverous but thats not the case. I started buying food about two weeks ago. As far as my other preps go, remember that saying from the hardware store. " If I don't have it, you don't need it"

We *finally* got the propane company to come out yesterday (after them telling us "in a couple of days" for the past few weeks) to hook up the regulator and hoses at the generator end of the gas line.

There's nothing as frustrating as having 500 gallons of propane, with a buried line to the generators, and no regulator, fittings, or hoses on the end!

They've *still* got to come back to install a water heater and connect the stove, argh. "Next week or so" they say. At least we'll have electricity if *that* goes out.

Believe it or not, I've been GI for a year and I still don't have enough guitar strings. Have to go out tomorrow AM (I'm in Hawaii so it's late at night) and get a bunch. Can't live without playing my guitar.
