ED YOURDON: butterflies???

Ed

You don't know me and I don't know you but I consider you my friend because you were one of those brave few who sounded the Y2k warning long ago. I listened. I trusted your professional judgement and personal integrity. And I prepared-- big time.

Obviously, I'm not the only one who took what you said seriously and acted accordingly.

In a few short hours, that moment you have staked your entire reputation on will happen. And I can't help but wonder if you're just a little anxious about it?

I know I am.

Best wishes, and thank you---whatever goes down, it's been a wonderful adventure.

farmbeet,

Sorry I didn't answer your question earlier -- I've been on and off the forum all day.

I think your question is a reasonable one, and stated politely. Variations on the same question have been raised in three or four other threads today. Rather than repeat myself, let me point you to a thread higher up on the list entitled What Will Yourdon/Gary North Do Now???

Short answer: I'm not worried about my reputation...

In a few short hours, that moment you have staked your entire reputation on will happen.

Get with it, farmbeet.
Do your own homework and take responsibility for your OWN actions.

The "stake" is over the next several weeks and months, and YEARS.
The next 24 hours will be a small pre-cursor of the actual severity, while back-up supplies and contingency plan band-aids quell the prob, SHORT-TERM.
The next week will, indeed, be indicative. The next month will be exemplary.
The next 3 months (past Feb.29/00) will be proof.

The next 6 months may be catastrophe.

"that moment you have staked your entire reputation on will happen"

year long Yourdon site Lurker here... am thinking that if nothing happens, i'll be very thrilled along with ed. I think what most of us agree on is what will happen is VERY unknown, except the entire WORLD of IT stands ready to fix "it", whatever "it" may be, all reputations aside!? factor THAT in. -k-

The next three days will determine alot IMO, it's all about consumer confidence after that. If we get throught the next few days with no major issues, we all must give many, many folks in government and industry alot of credit for busting their butts for the sake of many.

Good luck.
