LETS THANK PHILIP GREENSPUN FOR MAKING Y2K Timebomb possible!

He came through on his deal... We need to make it $7500. I gave my $50 today... Doesn't take many of us to meet the goal, and I think most of you have to agree that this forum, while not a necessity to life, has been interesting to follow and certainly worth a $50 buck contribution to a charity. Thanks Philip!

surf over to https:// db.photo.net/shoppe/ (ignore the warning boxes about the MIT certificate authority not being recognized; your credit card is transmitted securely) and make a tax-deductible donation to SARA Sanctuary, a no-kill animal shelter. They will get 100% of your money. If the Y2K users collectively come through with at least $7,500 (so far we have about $1,500 committed), I'll pay for some new dual- Pentium Linux boxes out of my own pocket.

This place has given me a lot of info, ideas and support that would cost major bucks from professional services that would be no better and less fun. Ive lurked for a long time and ive kicked in my hunnerd bux and think its a good deal. If you think youve benefitted from this site, then donate what you can...its certainly a verrrry good cause.!!!

Have been lurking about 9 months. Would like to contribute to Mr. Greenspun's charity but the above URL doesn't work. How about someone doing a link?

Here's the link, same as above except with the space removed.

I contributed $50. Will you match that?

Bob...

I just did!

Why don't you people give a hundred bucks to an organization that feeds people? Stray dogs and cats make good target pratice.

get real

so do people... only they're more fun because they can shoot back...

You know what? THIS could have been requested some time ago (absent the *insulting* temper tantrum) and it wouldn't have had the flavor of extortion to it that it obviously had as a result of the timing. I don't give a monkey's rump WHAT color it keeps being painted, the bottom line hasn't 'morphed' one little bit.

fluffy kitties and fuzzy puppies won't change it either. I'd prefer donating to the NRA. Demands were made in a most unfavorable light.

tsk, tsk

WC,

The phrase "*insulting* temper tantrum" seems an apt description of your post. As for the timing, you might address that complaint to the robot runners and to the people who may have been visiting this forum in larger numbers as the rollover approached.
