Just over 10 HOURS to go!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It will now be about 10.5 hours until the clocks do the big roll in Auckland, New Zealand, at 4:00am Pacific Time, 7:00am Eastern.

Does anyone have any Shortwave stations tuned in to get reports and post them to the forum?

Hawk,

Alas, the meme, resurrected after so many failed predictions, draws the final breaths of it's vampiric existence...signaling the end to it's parasitic effects on the IT community and society at large...

What's the matter Andy, getting nervous?

Hawk,

Actually, I am happy to see the entire silly matter come to an abrupt end. You and the other doomers have my condolences: perhaps the world will end the next time you hope for it, but not tomorrow.

Patient Regards,
Andy Ray

The whole "world will end" idea was conjured up by pollies like you, along with "planes will fall from the sky", and "the sky is falling." It is your childish way of trying to destroy our credibility by portraying us as whackos. It is an outright lie, because 99% of us do not believe those things will happen, however, most of us do feel it is wise to be prepared for some possibly chaotic conditions. If things do get bad, I hope you will be able to sleep at night knowing that you have blood on your hands, because you went to extreme efforts to destroy the credibility of our warnings for the safety and protection of everyone.

Hello Andy;

Why do you insist on this? Why do you feel it is necessary? What purpose does your argument serve? The time for argument is over.

There will be no cliff. There will be problems, how many, how sever, that is anyone's guess and nobody's certainty. Not even yours.

Hawk,

Don't let Andy ruffle your feathers. At this late stage, we will all watch and see. I disagree with 99% though, no matter how much we might hope, wish or pray things will turn out OK. I think we all recognize how inter-connected our society has become and how fragile it is. Problem there=eventual problem here. Things are going to get interesting! Not a good interesting, by the way.

Michael,

I said 99% of us DO NOT believe those things will happen.

Those are words that the pollys have been SAYING that we said, to make us look like wackos, but WE (99% of "doomers") never said them. Get it?

Yes Hawk, I do. Thanks.

Thanks for the reminder Hawk.
