Concur! Delete on sight.

Agreed!! Delete the worthless polly trolls!! Thanks Sysops!!!

Vernon,

Phil and two other programers are working feaverishly behind the scenes right now. The software is still in the process of stabilizing on the new machines.

We didn't have access to the delete function until a half hour ago.

Following Phil's advice, we will do "whatever" is best to protect his servers.

Regular Posters: just keep the forum e-mail address handy... y2ktimebomb2000@yahoo.com... and contact us or watch for news on Ed Yourdon's web-site at http://www.yourdon.com in case the forum goes down. It won't be for long.

Easy Vernon, take your blood pressure medication NOW. To all of the above named trolls/pollies/troublemakers/all-around-scum,I hope you are right, and it's a BITR (I seriously doubt it). I also wish you and yours a peaceful New Year, and hope to see you back so I can use up my scotch preps(A whole case!)whilst eating crow. All the Best, take it easy out on the road Doomer!P.S.-Sorry about last night on your debunkie forum, you can well imagine I was a bit upset at the y2kaos we were experiencing.

I am sick of the pollies and you have my vote of yes to delete them. We all know their views on Y2k and we should not be subject to anymore of it. They are taking up space.

-- Linda A (adahi@muhlon.com), December 30, 1999.

I agree to delete at this late in the game...it's all over but the shouting now...no since in any more arguing. Let just watch this thing in peace.

Is there any indication who was operating these robots? If Diane was one of them, will she blacklist herself?

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), December 30, 1999.

Flint, some of the regulars used the robots before we knew they were a problem. Once they were aware, they stopped. It is rather obvious that your trollish polly childish friends thought it would be fun to overload the server by using them maliciously. If you think Diane would intentionally cause problems, perhaps you should be blacklisted for having such an antagonist and trollish attitude.

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), December 30, 1999.

Hawk:

Anyone who runs such a program knowing it will cause problems is no friend of mine. I've been asking if their IP addresses could be identified so they could be locked out. Those people are nitwits.

I wonder if there is some nondisruptive means by which the forum could be archived, and the archive distributed to whoever wants a copy? I wouldn't mind having a CD-ROM of it, if this were possible. Maybe there is some way to allow someone with a writeable CD drive to make copis and distribute them for cost of the CD plus a reasonable labor fee?

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), December 30, 1999.

Since Phil has stated that he has the whole thing on tape backup, I'm sure arrangements will be made for those who want copies. This might be a good way to raise money for Phil's charity by charging a few bucks to burn CD's at M.I.T.

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), December 30, 1999.

Hawk:

Maybe one of our sysops could ask Phil about this? I'm willing to buy one.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), December 30, 1999.

Me too Flint. Since Phil stated that we should have "faith" in his backups, I'm sure we'll be able to get one with a little help from Ed or the Sysops, as soon as things settle down a bit. It might be a better CD if we wait until after we see what happens, don't want to leave out "the ending of the story"!

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), December 30, 1999.

I for one have complete faith in Phil's backups. I will also purchase a CD if he chooses to mint them. Will send the money wherever he asks it to be sent.

-- Michael Erskine (osiris@urbanna.net), December 30, 1999.

can we confine them in a sort of rubber forum?

-- Leonard Chmielecki (Chmielecki@worldnet.att.net), December 31, 1999.

Flint,

I think Diane said that she already has a CD or 2. Don't know what the dates of them are.

I'ld be willing to cover the cost, and chip in a few bucks for effort, to anyone that would be willing to do this. Heck, maybe we could do like MSDN, and send out monthly updates! <:)=
