Since the millenium celebrations are being canceled is the gov going to put the $250,000 back into the general fund?

Or is he going to squander it on some other frivolous tidbit? Maybe he could use it to hire back all those poor policemans that lost their jobs because of Tim Eyman. What about it Comrade Chairman?? Or was that moeny put aside for some other country's New Year celebration??

The state funding for Y2K celebrations was set aside for use in community events across the state. I would be surprised if the Space Needle event was even scheduled to receive ANY of the state funds.

I believe we covered this one several months back didn't we maddjak? Or were you hoping that we'd all forgotten by now and were trying to dupe us all into getting mad over some issue that doesn't even exist?

Patrick,

Do you know what communities were to receive funds, I must have missed this thread.

No. The distribution of funds is being handled by a Spirit 2000 committee I believe. It's under the direction of the Department of Community, Trade, & Economic Development. If anyone is interested in the distribution, they can probably call the department to find out (360) 753-7426.

The thread was a few months back when maddjak implied that the funding was to go to some expensive government party, which was then interpreted by several people as to meaning that there was going to be some big party in Olympia ONLY open to government workers.
