Humpty Dumpty Y2k--Roll Call - Please report in

May we all soon figure out precisely where we should congregate! I, for one, would appreciate one forum rather than the current three.

I am a morning person. Let's thank those responsible for having this backup forum. Just imagine that it all starts in about two days.

-- y2k dave (xsdaa111@hotmail.com), December 29, 1999.

Ludi here. Started this AM at Humpty, but will hang here for the most part.

-- Ludi (ludi@rollin.com), December 29, 1999.

Here, Sir. Will also keep a lookout at Humpty Dumpty to see who's there.

-- justme (justme@myhouse.com), December 29, 1999.

Just checking in.

About to make a phone call. Coffee and e-mail first.

Diane

-- Diane J. Squire (sacredspaces@yahoo.com), December 29, 1999.

I'm here, and this is where we should moneter the rollover.

-- Crono (Crono@timesend.com), December 29, 1999.

I say we stay here. I'd hate to see Humpty Dumpty forum taken down too .

Make sure to check out Ron's "OneList" forum and join, in case MIT shuts everything down, Ron's forum would make a good alternate backup for everyone to regroup. So far 80+ people joined. http://www.onelist.com/community/TB2000-Alternate

-- Chris (catsy@xxx.com), December 29, 1999.

Here, there and over there, too. I'd like us to settle on one forum...preferably the one with the most sysops and delete keys...

-- (RUOK@yesiam.com), December 29, 1999.

Still lurking---thanks--stay here

-- Charles (chatcher@hcnews.com), December 29, 1999.

Man, I missed youse guys.

I'm here too.

-- Billy Boy (Rakkasan101st@Aol.com), December 29, 1999.

Here, please. Let's not put all our eggs in one basket, now that we see how vulnerable a "basket" can be! We can visit Ed's site for the after-rollover views later, at will. But let's keep this "family" together. Thanks for all your hard work, Syssops!

Aside from the fact that I had very little sleep last night worrying about you guys, I still wonder what really happened to the old forum. Just too dang convienent that it should choose now to overload. However, it really doesn't matter and I don't suppose we will ever know the full story.

Dagnabbit, I sure am glad to see everyone here. Chuck, Diane and the other sysops. THANK YOU!!!!

Hillbilly here at Oh-possum creek..... um, hold on while I shake this taco dog off'n my leg....

-- Hillbilly (Hillbilly@possum.creek), December 29, 1999.

Hey, did I miss something last night? Shook my up when I couldn't get on to the regular forum this morning. Is that link gone for good? Should I bookmark a different link? I need this forum; if it weren't for this forum and the folks who post here, I'd be completely in the dark about y2k, as our media morons here in rural SW Oregon have completely ignored the issue. I very much appreciate the info and insights I've gained from the posters to this forum. Heartfelt thanks to Ed Yourdon and Phil Greenspun.

Really glad that we did not lose access to this mutual support system. I really count on you guys for information and even, at times for the hearsay that has to be verified. Sometimes it is the rumor that allows us to do the digging to find out the facts.

I really appreciate you all.

Here!

I certainly empathized with Philip when I read the message. One designs and configures a system with a certain expectation of use and will add some percentage of extra capacity, just to be safe. Ain't hardly nobody who designs a system to stand up to 10x expected demand - gets expensive.

Just glad we had our Site-B (or is this C?) to jump to. Please, no one fire up a 'bot, OK? Thanks.

So glad to see so many members of the old gang "back," particularly the "Squirrel King."

No sign yet of that "other" king however, "King of Spain."

Of course we can't hope to hear from "Dieter." Except. . .

Well, I'll fill you in on what "Except" means, on another thread.

Maybe tonight or tomorrow. Maybe even next week. I'm being cryptic, but certain folks who monitor this forum will understand that to which I am alluding.

In the meantime, dearest ones, "The short, the tall, the doomers, the pollies, the trolls, etc."

I thank you for your daily collective wisdom over the past year+ and wish you the best in 2000. Regardless of your outlook, this wish and prayer is from my heart.

Now, once again--HEADS UP!-- this is a "Roll-call" thread.

IN MY VIEW, I am allowed to pontificate, only because I STARTED it! (Har.)

The rest of you, just report in for duty!

(P.S., Good save, sysops. You deserve Kudos.)
