Preparing, what it means is that several people were attempting to copy the entire website and all links at the same time. It is a robotic process using specific software. A site this large would probably take in the neighborhood of 3-9 hours to copy...thus you have a bad logjam due to people wanting to preserve all of the information found on this website on their hard drives.

Nothing nefarious going on.

I feel that whoever did this certainly knew it would bring the site to crash and timed it with others to bring the crash about.
