Scared in the dark of the night ? Well RC & Infomagic posts have certainly put paid to sleep these past two nights for me.But then I realised I am just plain tired of "scared".So I sat down & made a list of all the scary things that have been going round & round in my brain.

Death -no ..just the manner of.

Hunger - been there.like quitting smoking the weed, the first week is the worst whilst your stomach is shrinking.

Cold - Well in the South of the Uk is rare for someone to die of hypothermia unless they are elderly & anyway we have a ton of fuel.

Lack of Power/Fuel. Again got that covered.

Loosing a job..Well, we won't starve with all those preps

Loosing the House...unlikely

Nuclear Explosion...Ah well...

The childrens's safety(both adult DGI).Rescue plans in place

So it seems that as far as I am concerned,there is only the possibility of nuclear explosion to really worry about....isn't there ?

Seriously, how you coping with those personal night demons ?(Girls clean answers please!)

You're a guy, right? When it comes to worry, women are the champs. How about this:

- Our neighbors are not prepped, but they ARE gun collectors. Seem like very nice people. However, if they ever got really hungry... Connect the dots.

- People in the low-income housing a few blocks away. Also probably not prepped. Also possibly armed. How long will they endure hunger if they suspect we have food stashed?

- Fire, caused by anything at all, & no water pressure for hoses.

- No place to go if the house burns or is taken from us by force.

Those are my main fears. All others are way down the list.

My fears: Freezing to death in sub zero WI temperatures--OR dying of CO poisoning from the kero heater
A meltdown at DC Cook or Palisades nuclear plants
Running out of appropriate reading material if the electricity goes off
/ The end of Ebay
I also fear that this thing could linger for months--if I lose my income, how can I pay rent, etc?

Chris: I have prepped til I can't prep no more. I think I have thought of everything or at least enough. I don't worry about things I can't control. I have a FEW family members that get it, many that don't. I warned and pleaded, offered information. That's all I can do, so I can't worry about them. I have a 7 and 15 year old at home. I have prepaired for them to the best of my ability. I sleep well, no bad dreams.

Believe me when I say that I won't go down without a fight, it's not my style. But there isn't much point in being afraid, it takes all the fun out of life.

Thanks for caring, but don't worry (especially about me). If you want to worry, worry for the younger ones who don't always sense danger as well as we do.

Okay, how is this for paranoia... I'm not worried about gas and electric, or money or food shortages. I'm worried that evil minded people will take advantage of the chaos and vandalize our neighborhood looking for all the cash that everyone took out of the banks. They will be able to do this because the phones will not work since so many people will be checking to see if they do work that they will overload the system. And even if the phones worked - emergency services will be working at capacity because of all the crazy things going on.

Do I win the paranoia prize?
