What does Phillip Greenspun think of y2k?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Dear Phillip, First off, thanks for this forum and especially the Photo-net forum, I've learned quite a bit from both. Since these are your forums, to the best of my memory I don't recall ever reading any posts from you on the topic of y2k and was interested in reading your comments and opinions on this topic. Are you personally a "Polly" or a "Doomer"? Just how bad do you think things will be? Overall on a scale of 1-10 where do you things will end up? Enquiring minds want to know! Thanks

Made me chuckle Phil. Your reply made me remember growing up with my 7 bros. and sisters. When I could see the storm clouds coming...a sibling war ready to break out... I'd grab a magazine and lock myself into our one and only bathroom. I wasn't a witness and couldn't be injured by either side.

Interpretation:

I think Phillip's saying he doesn't think y2k will be severe, because there are no severe disruptions @ present in his opinion.

FWIW,IMHO

Phil Greenspun's email address is philg@mit.edu, so I think it's safe to say you haven't heard from him on this thread. Actually, Phil did post once (maybe a year or so ago) in response to this same question. He said that he doesn't think Y2K is a problem.

Since he's planning not to shut his server down for the rollover, that's a good indication that he hasn't changed his mind. Nevertheless, he's been a gracious host. I wish him the very best, and I hope to hell that he is right about this.
