I thought London was going under lockdown today?

"I guess they were wrong. What a surprise."

London center city will be under strict police supervision, a very nicy-nicy way of saying martial law.

Also, everyone was right who predicted that Seattle celebrations would be shut down.

I predict that NY & DC will follow suit, sometime before Friday.

It seems to me that this is a potentially important development. I guess everyone here just wants to participate in useless emotional debate with trolls like DDecker the PPecker.

London Lockdown

AFAIK, the lockdown only effects the City of London. A ring of steel around the business center has been in place since thge IRA bombings - this will be extended and all the bridges across the river Thames closed. It will happen before the millenium, but none of my contacts in London have notified me of anything in effect at the moment.

I will keep the board posted of any developments as I hear of them ...

I heard on Monday from a friend who lives in Greenwich, England and is right on the Greenwich Merdian, which is in southeast London. He has lived there for many years. Of course, thousands of visitors are expected to be in Greenwich on Christmas Eve. He said the original idea of the police giving everyone wrist-bands which identified each person was soon abandoned because the entire allotment of wrist bands was used up in 24 hours--not enough to go around! And he said that if there isn't a major incident in Greenwich on Christmas Eve, he will be surprised. So he and his family are staying home that night.
