Has the President stood down our Nuclear Defense "Triad" as some sort of gesture to our foes leaving us defenseless to attack?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

With reports of NO known US Warships now operating in the Atlantic, and most of the remaining Warfighting arm of the US Navy in port, in a virtual standdown, one must ask if the President went one step further and stood down our entire Nuclear Defense Forces.

The positioning of the chess pieces is beginning to make me wonder.

Sounds pretty paranoid to me. Where are the Russian boats? Maybe they are in port also. Research, my man, research!

Obviously gelliot you have not fully considered what the implications of our having little if any military naval presence deployed. Currently we have only 2 aircraftcarriers deployed out of 12. 5 of them are lined up side-by side in port on the eastcoast. 88% of our subs are in port (unheard of even for this time of the year). With this, and the majority of our combat essential commanders and troops on holiday leave, you must be aware that in the last few weeks Russia went on full "combat alert". This means all strategic rocket forces are fueled, guidance solutions plotted (pointed towards...), and ICBM commanders at 24 hour watch.

Yes snowleopard6 there is much to be concerned about....

Actually, I'm fairly certain that the USS Kitty Hawk is in port in Yokosuka (spelling?) Japan... making only one carrier USS JFK (?) in the Red Sea (currently on standdown undergoing repairs/maintenance).

Also, frequenting Chinese and Russian newspapers, you will find almost zero information on Y2K... the ONLY news you'll find is Chechnya and an article or two on nukes totally Y2K okay...

It is strange that there is so little news from Russia on the subject considering it is one of the "hot spots" relating to Y2K...

Our piety knows no limits! El Presidente has taken the moral high ground! Our collective symbolic gesture will be devastating, diplomatically speaking. Not as devastating as, say, 2,000 megatons hitting our major Navy bases, but not bad. Besides, if the Russians launch, it will be THEIR fault! I personally take great comfort in that possibility. Can you imagine their guilt? Whatever was left of the State Dept. would be gloating for months over our...um...victory. JK

Do they even need to launch? I seem to recollect Golysin stating at the end of his second book [the one which contained his collected CIA briefing papers] that the Russians and Chinese had long- planned to bring America to its knees by way of a naked, brutal and totally unsuspected threat of the application of irresistable and overwhelming force unless the U.S. President surrendered virtually instantly.

-- John Whitley (jwhitley@inforamp.net), December 28, 1999.

John, the only chance that strategy would ever have of being succesful is if Clinton and his socialist buddies were to succeed in disarming the american public, and that aint happening short of an all out civil war. I can assure you that if the Russians and Chinese were to just walk in here and thiiink they were taking over they would soon realize what the nether regions of hell looked like.

Or maybe, just maybe, what will happen is that these "enemies" will attack Europe and we will get the chance to again watch the USA sit on its hands with its head up its butt saying that "It's a European war, it has nothing to do with us".

Or perhaps the US will copy its actions in WW1,1914-1918, and jump right in there in 1917.

Please, end the masturbating nonsense about ships in port, the Russians, and just find out where the Russian ships are.

I am sure your military boys and girls do know where they are.

Focus on some real issues. You hate your government, for some valid reasons. If your government is that bad, kick them out.

Your talk, and no action, just marginalizes you.

-- gary elliott (gelliott@real.on.ca), December 28, 1999.

Mr. Elliot where the russian ships are is totally irrelevant. The point is that clinton has stood down our nuclear defenses to the point we are sitting ducks against a first strike by the communist nations. Now that he has lined up almost all our subs, and all of our nuclear aircraft carriers like ducks in a row to be taken out with single warhead strikes, the temptations to launch that first strike must be nearly overwhelming to theRussian Generals. They will never have another opportunity like this and they full well know it.

Now as to if you don't like it change it, be my guest. Odds are we're all gonna be dead before the next election, not that it would make one whit of difference as we are only given nwo puppets to vote for be either party. So trot your happy ass on up to DC with a deer rifle or homemade bomb and show us how you intend to halt this show. Come on, we're waiting.

-- Nikoli Krushev (doomsday@y2000.com), December 28, 1999.

Gary, it DOES NOT MATTER if the rest of the world's navy is in port or not. Clinton has already changed our policy of Nuclear deterence to be "wait until we actually get the crap nuked out of us and then launch". Now the majority of our (smallest in decades) navy is in port. And it's being announced loudly.

Hmmmm, what's that sound like??? Can you say "toast"??

-- Brent James Bushardt (brentj@webt.com), December 28, 1999.

Well, Mr Kruschev, so your military and Mr Clinton have parked most of your ships. Now they are sitting ducks for the "communist" (what a quant, anachronistic term, didn't think anyone still used it) enemy to nuke with their missiles. But hey, the USA has missiles also! What a concept! So the USA could lose all its ships to a "communist" (god, there I go again getting nostalgic) missile attack, and still nuke the hell out of Russia and its generals.

No, if the Russians are going to attack anyone, they will attack Europe, knowing the Americans will be too chicken shit to do anything about it. History always repeats itself.

As for bringing a rifle to DC, do it yourself.

I do not think you have the balls, though.

Your right Elliot, I aint going to Washington, not for lack of guts though just plain common sense. You see if I could possibly tote enough ammunition to shoot my through all the layers of crooked politicians and coke selling cops and drug importing cia and gestapo oriented DEA A hundred times on this forum the true status of our nuclear defense system has been brought to light in minute detail. and a hundred times some ignorant asshole such as yourself has made the same groundless idiotic response. Do yourself a favor fella, get an education as to exactly what the situation is before further diminishing what little shreds of credibility you have remaining on the forum.

Nik

You are obviously disgusted with your country, yet feel it impossible to be able to change anything. The mark of a truly marginalized person.

My suggestion to you is to either quit bitching about the morass you describe, or move to another country.

Since you know nothing about my background or education, these personal attacks are tedious at best, and at worst, make you sound like a dumb, ignorant fool.

Thicken your skin.

PS if you name is a take on the Soviet leader from the 1950's-1960's, you have spelled it wrong. If it is something you made up on your own, please accept my apologies for pointing it out.

-- gary elliott (gelliott@real.on.ca), December 28, 1999.

Gary- The President ie.Commander-in-Chief of the U.S.A. armed forces has stated in 1997 **in a Presidential Decision Directive** that we will no longer launch our missiles on a confirmed warning of an attack on our country. We must wait until we actually get hit with an attack before we respond. This simply means that Air Force bases and Missile bases can be targetted along with the Naval ports. OH, and the only mobile missiles that exist in the American arsenal are the missile submarines - you know, the ones that are tied up and the docks...

But I don't expect you to understand any of this....after hearing this comment from you: "communist" (what a quant, anachronistic term, didn't think anyone still used it)"

Have you ever heard of Cuba or China to just name two Communist countries. I bet you're even in favor of Socialism.

-- Brent James Bushardt (brentj@webt.com), December 28, 1999.

Brent, please forward to the list this Presidential Directive.

Also, If you could, in 20 words or less, give us you definition of "socialism".

Thanks
