Eve,

James Wood is an MIT graduate (thus providing an "existence proof" that we're not all geeks). For all we know, he may be one of the lurkers on this MIT-hosted forum....

No, he just still thinks that he is Private Ryan.

I heard from Spielberg Studios that he hasn't given the uniform back to the costume dpeartment back yet.

And on his answering machine Damon has a clip from "Apocalypse Now" where Colonel Kurtz is talking about a slug crawling along the edge of a straight razor.

I think he has really gone off the deep end.

The actor James Woods has been a GI for at least a year or two now. He had shown lots of frustration about the whole thing (DWGIs, etc.) in an interview.

Gillian Anderson (Sculley on "X Files") got it back in February. Robin Williams claimed to be headed for God's country for the rollover.

Looks like a few Hollywood types might survive... those who actually think for themselves.

As for most of the others -- "Simpsons" had the right idea; put them on a rocket ship headed straight for the sun.

Letterman is definitely a GI, Jay Leno is definitely not (too stupid). It is fairly obvious after watching several times the manner in which they treat the subject. Letterman can't get it off his mind, he has mentioned it several times every night for the last couple of months.

Ed,

Thanks for the info. My comfort level just went up a notch. By the way, while you're here, I have to tell you how much I appreciate the fantastic job you've done with your writings and the fora. I can't describe how much I wish I could turn back the clock two years and jump in with you and this wonderful group of people from the beginning...

No idea what he thinks re Y2K, but I have to say that I'm a big fan of James Woods as an performer and as a person.

He's extremely intelligent, a talented and dedicated actor, and absolutely fearless. This staunch Democrat stood up to all the Hollyweird group-think (and probably got permananently banned from Streisand's parties) during the Clinton impeachment debacle when he told CNN: "You want my take on the Clinton situation---the guy's a scumbag, he's a slimeball." He then went on a talk show and questioned Mr. Clinton's "giveaway" (his words!) of missile technology to China. Talk about chutzpah!

Anyone who does all that (and also comes up with a hilarious "Hades-as-Hollywood-agent" character for a Disney movie) has earned my respect and admiration.

As James Wood said in the movie "Cop", "It's a shitstorm out there, penguin."

Sunday night football, I think last week. Asked Theisman, "So Joe, What are YOU doing for the roll-over?". Brief pause, "crying". That led to an end of discussion real quick.
