please let us know what your latest guess is on rollover effects for Jan 1st and the first half of the year. Did you read RC's analysis of the oil situation? Heard anything about that industry?

I'm sipping a little wine from my humble florida abode. Thanks so much for thinking about me.

I'm as confused as ever about the rollover. I do however expect a few more immediate problems than most. I guess you could now put me in Ed Yourdon's camp on the first year, therefore, I'm much more optimistic now than 18 months ago. So much work has been done, albeit somewhat sloppy. The .mil has spent a sh*tload of money replacing non- complaint PC's AND they are much less reliant on mainframes than in the past. Most (maybe 60%) of the applications that I have reviewed are of the "drag and drop" category using Commercial Off The Shelf products. Testing has been real sloppy but I personally haven't seen any showstoppers. However, the attitudes of the players is a big concern. Most view Y2K as a petty annoyance and their best efforts are not being put forth. Bad attitudes combined with piss poor Configuration Management practices could be the difference after all is said and done.
