ABC news story - Seattle has cancelled it's Y2K party.

ABC is reporting that americans are preparing for Y2K . Water ,batteries, canned goods, etc sales up over 100%. But people are NOT panicing. Just being careful, they are reporting. Well I guess they couldn't keep a cover on the prepping story any longer. Hold on!

Heh, glad I grabbed some $1 cans of corned beef at K-mart last night:)

K-Mart usually has tins of kippered herring (smoked, dijon mustard, and hot sauce varieties) for 68 cents or thereabouts. I love the stuff, and everyone else seems to charge about twice as much.

Because of this site and others like Ed I was able to spend one year getting my preps in order. Guess what a little rice no beans! I was able to find the greatest deals and food on the net that will have me eating normally, cooking with a solar oven and camp stove, listening to radio without power and reading, cross stitch and yes I even got the goodies. I cant say it didnt take work and finished in November. But none of this would have been possible without people like Ed and the contributors here in the forum. So to all of you I say thank you and will never forget all the work you have done to get us moving. I knew there would never be a guestion of doing all of this for nothing for me. My instints have worked over the years too well and it makes me look lucky when in fact it isnt luck at all. Its paying attention and action!!!! Again Thanks

Poor Redder :^(

You miss the point...nothing is wasted. We either eat the preps (ours are tasty, normally consumed food not MRE's, so we'll be set for some time) or give to an organization for distribution. Either way we win...*and*, if it's a BITR we ALL win.

BTW....can you tell us what you did with the money you *didn't* use to prepare ? Were there lots of little children whose Christmas was made happy because of your generosity ? Are there people in the world who will be getting food to sustain them because of you....?? Just wondering.... We've prepared as we feel necessary, helped members of our family to prepare, and have still given our normal gifts to the charities we support....all with my husband out of work for 18 months, having had one accident and three surgeries....AND our medical insurance ends this month. Don't be too quick to judge the hearts of those who've chosen to prep. Most of the people I know who are prepping also have very generous hearts. We seem to be able to pull things together financially when we trust God for direction and still look to the needs of others. BTW, I am prepared, in heart and larder, to share as needed...with wisdom, of course. Christ taught men to provide for their families and for the wives to be keepers of the home. That includes our preps for the unexpeccted. You have to remember that it has only been in this century, with all of our conveniences, that we lost the art of storing for harder times.

I wish no misfortune to you in case you've misjudged the future (Jan 1 and beyond), but I sincerely hope that no one is dependent upon you.

If you need it, what will you do with the food you didn't get?

More to the point, how will you get it? From whom will you get it?

---...---

First responsibility is to one's own family - to your own children/grandchildren. Don't try to pile up your false "charity" - "I donated more than you did" - unless you can prove just how much you donated. 1040 (and attachments and schedules) accepted willingly as proof. Once proof is offered, I'll accept the fact you did actually donate what's claimed.

What anybody else gave is their business, and is only accountable to their god's demands.

Redder,

I predict that you will be dead or will have eaten dog or human meat(maybe your children) by this time next year, if you are wrong. Can you give us proof that Y2K will be more then a bump in the road?

You and your type have done almost unrepairable damage to the socialist minded sheeple, if this thing goes 7 to 10. People that have prepared their familys for the unknown, have been ostrisised and laughed at for insuring their families from the unknown. Do you think I will help someone that comes to my door for survival if this thing goes ballistic? I don't know if I will. I will remember all the crap that I have read from the pollyannas from this forum when that person shows up at my door. If I see true humility in his heart, like many of the people that have prepaired already possess in their character, I might feed him. If he does not, I will instruct him to go eat grass and get off my property. If he refuses, I will release the rotweillers.

Your responses would make a lot more sense if the narrow-minded idiots that run this board would quit deleting my posts. They have removed approximately three today....

Wake up sheeple!!! You are not *allowed* to see the viewpoints of thinking intelligent people who *dare* to post views not supported by the greedy, money-grubbing people managing this forum. It makes much more sense to them if you continue to believe that 99%+ of the population of the world "will be dead or will have eaten dog or human meat(maybe your children) by this time next year".

Follow the money - how much income to I make by making some attempt to convince even 1% of you the truth??? Then again, how much money do the Y2K "Gurus" make with their speaking fees, books, software programs, website advertising etc, etc, etc, etc....

For the minute fragment of time that this post is ALLOWED to stay on this board, THINK for a minute or two and quit just repeating the mushroom food you have been fed over the past 2+ years.........

How many of the dire predictions for 1999 have come true?

How many banks are suffering from a "run"?

How many supermarkets are running out of food?

How many of you have spent more than 1 month's salary on "preparations" - food, water, generators, fuel, guns, dogs, etc, etc....?

God help you all - I hope your depression over the next several months doesn't lead to suicidal thoughts - that's my worst fear.
