I agree... nothing! nothing is going to happen this weekend. Except a shortage on fuel cans from walmart... don't worry though, cause we have plenty here...

Noswad

Isn't it fun to be a part of history though?

You must be new here. This is just a typical evening. You know us doomers, we've got to tear apart everything. Government reports, foreign news items, industry "status" reports, yup, just another average day.

Now, what was that, about "nothing"???

Tick... Tock... <:00= ...

Dear Sux (gee, haven't we had another one with this name before?)

I am perfectly calm. The reason for my state of calm is that I have prepared as best I can for an imminent emergency of unknown proportions lasting for an unspecified period of time.

You, on the other hand, sound positively hysterical...

Frankly, I'd prefer to read History concerning what I anticpate could be the most defining time in our life's. WE ARE NOT, AND I REPEAT NOT, GOING TO ENJOY THE NEXT TWO/SIX/TWELVE/WHATEVER MONTHS OF OUR LIVES.

-- Michael (michaelteever@buffalo.com), December 27, 1999.

Pssst, Sux. Don't you find it just a bit ironic to scream "calm down" with that twelve alarm punctuation?

Hope the sysops "remediate" this thread. Too many interesting ones scroll off because of this school's-out-circus stuff.

It's the media and goverments that have declared 1/1/2000 as the day that matters. Anyone with any computer experience knows that it's all the minor "bugs", incomplete code and partial truths about compliance that are going to cause computer chaos. Not at the same time, but over an extended time period of months, perhaps years. Unfortunatly, one bad apple can spoil the whole barrel (i.e. networks).

Most people I meet around town are not the least bit concerned (or perhaps even aware) about potential Y2K problems. It's a non-event. Although, I remember the first gas crunch in 1973--the cry was "how could this happen;" "didn't the government know we were running out of fuel;" "how could they let this happen????" I also recall running out of gas seven miles from the South Carolina border (after finding no stations open in the State of North Carolina) and having to walk those seven miles to obtain a can of gas. Luckily, good ole South of the Boarder was still pumping gas.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off "unsound of mind", didn't get a chance to finish, hit the darn wrong key, argh.

I think, personally, if you have any context of how we expect the life we enjoy, and then take the "JUST IN TIME" inventory system we have all come to expect. Frankly, how things won't go awry would be amazing, how could they not?

It's been pretty much documented in most every poll conducted over the past six months or so, from whatever source, that almost 25/30% of small businesses are going to FOF (Fix on Failure).

Give me a break, how can there be such a thing as a POLLY, there have been many, many intelligent, cohesive, thought provoking articles and rebuttals (hope that's spelled right) on this forum.

I've not seen, other than PR spin, anything that shouldn't "raise my hackles" and realize I should do the best I can to ready for what I think could happen. Anything else would be irresponsible, (At least in my opinion).

>> Absolutely nothing is gonna happen.<<

Wow! Glad we finally found someone with the answers.

So, who's going to play in the Super Bowl and what will the final score be?

-- Brian McLaughlin (brianm@ims.com), December 27, 1999.

Its commonly known as psychological projecting.

This person has probably just happened upon the scene today.

Late arriving polly:

"Hmmmmmm--what have we here----a little R.C. a little infomagic--a couple of glitches already occurring--decent,orderly,cordial, posters . Plus info. is all pertainent and logical.

Have pity on anyone having watched T.V. for the past year that stumbles upon this place with 4 days to go. phewwww!
