JUMBO JET BLOWN OUT OF SKY? Details of crash in England kept secret from public

By David M. Bresnahan ) 1999 WorldNetDaily.com

A 747 cargo jet was blown from the sky by an apparent terrorist bomb, but details of the crash have been largely kept secret from the public, according to intelligence and military sources.

A Korean Air 747 cargo plane crashed into a field Dec. 22 just after takeoff from Stansted Airport in Essex, killing a crew of four. Witnesses reported that it exploded violently in mid-air only minutes after rising into the air.

Intelligence sources confirmed to WorldNetDaily that a terrorist bomb is the most likely cause of the crash, and Osama bin Laden's forces are the key suspects.

One amazing thing about this was that it happened so fast that no 'Mayday' or other sign of alarm was sent out by the plane's pilots...

ISSUE 1676 Monday 27 December 1999

Hunt for Korean jet's 'black box' goes on

THE search for debris from the Korean Air Jumbo jet crash was called off last night after air accident investigators spent the day combing woods and deploying divers to search a lake. They were due to resume the search at first light today.

Investigators spent the day at the crash site near Stansted Airport, Essex, recovering wreckage and debris which was being stored before being taken to laboratories in Farnborough for analysis. Six police divers were expected to take several days to search a 60ft deep lake. Police and RAF staff spent yesterday scouring woods several hundred yards from the crash site. The recovery team will be increased from 70 to 100 over the next two days as the Air Accident Investigation Bureau clears the site.

Earlier evidence from the recovered cockpit voice recorder showed that the crew members were struggling with technical problems before the crash. But investigators are anxious to recover the second "black box" recorder, which contains flight data. All three crew-members and a ground engineer who was on board died when the cargo aircraft plunged to the ground and exploded moments after taking off.

Investigators said that evidence suggested all four engines were on high power at the time of impact. An airport spokesman dismissed reports that one engine was on fire when the jet took off.

I should have added that there have been concerns about Korea Air's record previous to this, so it may well not be bin Laden!

How big must a bomb be to blow a 747 out of the sky??

-- Z (Z@Z.Z), December 27, 1999.

And why pray tell would Bin Laden be pissed at the Koreans? Did he have some bad Kimshi perhaps? This is just another in a long, long list of WorldNutDaily speculations. David M. Bresnahan will go down as one of the most irresponsible media clowns of our time.

Look,

Terrorists don't really need a reason to attack someone. That's the point of terrorism: it's pointless. So everyone feels at risk. The Koreans are friendly to the US, and that alone may be enough to make them terrorist targets.

I'm not claiming that it WAS a terrorist attack, but the fact that the Koreans haven't done anything we know of to offend Bin Laden doesn't necessarily mean that he wouldn't enjoy doing something to them for no particular reason.

No argument Gene but dont you think that a terrorist would maximize the effort and go for a high profile passenger jet? I just have a problem believing anything that comes from WND. Why are we not seeing this same speculation from the mainstream papers? Please spare me the conspiracy angle.

It must have been the fuel tank again!

-- BiGG (supersite@acronet.net), December 27, 1999.

The quesion might be: What was the plane carrying? Cargo for which country -- it not need be Korea.

-- Ira Kennedy (ira@texfiles.com), December 27, 1999.

Hypothetical secnario: Mail bomb... blows up prematurely near a fuel line or fuel tank.

Ties in with concerns about mail bombs coming in our of Germany.

What was the destination of the flight?

Purely hypothetical ofcourse.

Worldnet Daily Article: Jumbo jet blown out of sky?

The cargo plane is said to have contained NATO military equipment headed for Italy, but official sources have not confirmed what freight was contained on the plane.

Military and intelligence officials say the attack may be an indication bin Laden is making good on his pledge to mount "pitiless and violent" attacks against U.S. and other targets worldwide.

Unsure whether this plane was carrying military equipment for Nato but it was carrying explosives, and judging by the way it is reported in the BBC news, the explosives were not packaged properly and it seems that this is why it exploded. But it begs the question, why would they use a Korean cargo plane, especialy when Korean planes have gotten such a bad record lately??
