OT if y2k, hackers, virus writers suceed

If the computers and or the internet/web gets trashed on or following New Year's Eve, will the hackers and such like people be able to communicate with each other anyway? If not, what would be their point in destroying the system? They wouldn't be able to congratulate each other or brag. They'd be in the same boat as the rest of us. So is there some hope that they'll leave all us computer illeterates alone?Mousie

Don't count on it. Not after Kosky pleaded with them not to do anything till the next week.

The low-tech way: they will get together in someone's apartment and celebrate.

Trust me, the hackers that would be intent on taking the net down, dont care about communicating.

I can easily imagine some among TPTB who would just as soon that the internet would just "go away." Wouldn't it be convenient to take it down and blame it on hackers?
