Salutations!!!

Ok...Lotsa 'blanket coverage' and Hype... More spin than my lil' ole noggin' can handle. Sandwich, Massachusetts:Police detonated a music box full of chocolate sent from Germany. Unintelligible/No return address. Bad PO Box # on it. Answer: it must be a bomb. Solution: Blow it in Place.

This is happening so frequently, and the 'press' is full-court pressing so hard about this I just had to find out. Called a bro stationed in Hohenfels Germany. It's located 100km outside of Nurnburg, and is a pretty 'well informed' post despite it's remote location. Asked him about the "letter bombs" and what kind of warnings/news he might have heard. He was baffled. Told me that they (the US troops) might expect some slow mail, but hadn't heard anything about the potential letter bomb issue/scare or the other stuff. Hell, he laughed his ass off when I told him about the coverage and how any letter/package he sent me for the holiday might get vaporized by overprotective authorities. He told me he'd research it and call me back. (hope my box of German Lebenkuche Cookies make it through! Yum!)

This is definately a crock of shit. When I was stationed over there we were the first folks warned of stuff like this... Now it seems the spin might have faltered. I'll find out tommorow when he calls me back. Wonder if it'll kick in now that the NSA was listening in...

Has anyone else noticed in the last few days on the evening news they keep saying "unsubstantiated" information from the FBI about mail bombs from Germany.

When, if ever, has the media-at-large ever reported to such a great extent on unsubstantiated reports by the FBI?

That is to say, blatantly came out and said/admitted it was unsubstantiated. Things that make you say hmmmmm..........

Many moons ago TPTB let on that they would be substituting Y2K with "terrorism." In the archives are so many early examples ...

!!!Everything We've Uncovered Is True !! FEMA vs Homeland Command

One thread out of 100s that explored this topic early on ...

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), December 26, 1999.

Whomever the true brain was behind the entire Y2K spin campaign that came out of our government, you're a freakin' genius! I tip my hat to you...regardless of what happens, you did your job to a brilliant T. Making preppers "hoarding insane religious wackos"..."The three day storm smiley face newspaper articles"...Throwing in terrorist threats to explain and justify the enormous amounts of police and military presense we're about to be swamped with worked perfectly. Londeners are happy. New Yorkers are happy. Everyone is happy. Amazing. Nice to know SOMEONE in DC knows their job well.

Kritter, pumping all those phoney"Thank You Paine Webber" ads into greased Greenspan money supply(and banning bears from CNBC squawk box) helped keep the stock market up, which is probably 90% of people's "happiness" and denial. The best spin move was getting Oprah to con America's housewives into forgetting about prepping and to get back out to the malls ahead of Christmas. Amazing. I wonder where Oprah is going to be for the rollover.....maybe at Ted Turner's ranch....

rr Oprah has her own private hoard, it's around her fat ass and gut...

another media hack whore that ignored the issue...

Turns out an unkown person(s) called the whitehouse oral office and stated in a thick Mexican accent "Beware the German Chalupas!"

-- Gordon (g_gecko_69@hotmail.com), December 26, 1999.

Billy Boy,

What scares me is tryin' to figure out who is getting lied to: civilians or military? My guess says both. We're at the tip of the iceberg I fear.

-- Hokie (nn@va.com), December 26, 1999.

No kidding there Hokie...TPTB seem to always show an absolute disregard and willingness to sacrifice us .mils whenever "they" smell a profit.

-- Billy Boy (Rakkasan101st@Aol.com), December 26, 1999.

Smoke and mirrors, folks, smoke and mirrors....

I do wonder why they picked Germany of all places. You'd think they'd pick somewhere more exotic. Although, people do get packages more often from Germany than, say, from Iraq or Jordan or some such place........

Sheesh, the spin is making me dizzy...

Ok, lets get real here. This terrorism slant is just a ruse and only idiots (read sheeple) will fall for it. TPTB know that when TSHTF they'll need some fast explaining to do. Well saying some fellow blew it up sounds good enough.

But this is the most lame explaination there is. Why? Simple. We will be told by everybody and their son every Y2K issue was due to terrorism (or at least the big ones). Well if it was so damn easy for these folks to do so much damage at one go in so many places, why the hell have they waited up to now. We know TPTB said they were totally blown away that these folks could coordinate the Africa bombings so well and that it required and inordinamount of expertise to pull that off without being found out, and now we are to believe that these folks can do a job 100x bigger right here under our noses with such spectacular results.

Give me a break.

For those who want to learn about my views on what is really happening read my replies in this thread of a few days ago.

Has anyone else thought this explains all the terrorism/hacker warning?

Stupid question alert: What is TPTB?

quietly not able to figure it out in Texas

TPTB = The Powers That Be

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), December 27, 1999.

Figure that TPTB are claiming "as many as" 15 terrorists are sponsored by LaBen (-1 sp) .... that's not enough for four cells.

FOUR separate acts of vandalism - yes, if biological or chemical based, it could be bad in local areas, but four acts, or even four teams spreading explosive devices every hour for ten days isn't enough damage to harm a country - but it sure could be enough to warrant a "lot" of over-reaction "LOOK, THANK US! WE HAVE SAVED THE DAY AGAINST TERRORISTS" headlines from a gullible press.

Consider the damage done in Germany by a thousand bombers dropping ten tons of bombs each twice a week directly (but randomly) in the middle of their cities: yet the people managed, and even increased production!

Individual bomb blasts aren't going to do anything significant to the infrastructure or economy at large. The computer failure will impact - if enough fail, and we have not seen enough evidence (yet) that enough have been repaired.

Let us hope they have been far more successful in far more businesses than past experience indicates.

Robert,

I don't know about that... as I watched ABC's "Nightline" special about a a biological attack on the U.S. (about a month ago), I was stunned at how rapidly the effects were felt across the nation.

If the terrorism is an airborne virus, and is a genuine attempt by terrorists to bring the country to its knees, then we do have more than political spin to deal with.

As Greybear might say:

"Got KI?"

(Potassium Iodate)

-- Sara Nealy (keithn@aloha.net), December 27, 1999.

BTW,

I meant to say, "Got antibiotics?" not Potassium Iodate, although both seem a good idea, considering all of the risks at hand.

With the balance of your assessments, I agree. It's just easier to make a big dent with only four acts of terrorism in a short amount of time than I would have thought...

Of course, TPTB will try to rally us around the anti-terrorist cause to promote whatever solution/conclusion/benefit they seek.
