Handy Wipes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I have looked, but did not see anyone mention using handy wipes for babies, but they are not just for babies, and there are a lot of different brands on the market. If a shower is not easy, these will help with a quick clean up with no water. Hope this helps someone, I find them in any store around town, they are quite common. I also got a bottle of whisky and some lemon juice to mix with brown sugar for congestion. My grandparents used this and it really works. Don't forget something as simple as antiacid tablets, or any of the pink stomach medicine. Oh yes a bottle of Oral Jel for tooth ache could save you lots of pain. Keep on keeping on.

Good idea to have plenty of the waterless hand sanitizer (alcohol based + lanolin or similar - available at Walmart, etc.) There are articles that state that this is more effective at killing bacteria than even soap and water. It's another good way to keep from using precious water resources on handwashing.

I also purchased the waterless Goop style of mechanics hand cleaner - you don't necessarily need water with that, either - just wipe hands with a paper towel (although probably not nearly as effective at killing bacteria/etc.)

My ain't-no-shower-available prep: I just got a crewcut last week, and stocked up on anti-perspirant months ago... ;-)

If you are using Goop, you might try the orange scented Go-Jo, It is not oil based, and easier to clean off, and smells great too. You can buy it at any car parts place. Also the Blue paper towels at the car place are great for cleaning up. They last forever, you can use them to wash down counters, wash out and reuse. A lot lot better than a paper towel. Toss when the job is finished, or burn.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. Clorox has put out a spray that keeps on killing germs for 24 hours (99%) It is suppose to be 10 times more effective than Lysol, and Lysol is a great product. I am getting some as soon as I can for the bathroom clean ups, as scrubbing the tolit and things may not be as often as one would like. Also to clean around food areas.
