I received this e-mail from my daughter who is employed by TVA in Knoxville, Tennessee:

The Japanese utility, Tokyo Power Company (TEPCO), will make available on their website (http:www.tepco.co.jp) the status of their system over the time period of Dec. 31/Jan.l. Since Japan is a day ahead of us (International Dateline), and since much of the TEPCO system is designed similarly as utilities in the U.S., this information could help us determine if equipment begins to fail in advance of the clock striking midnight in the U.S.

I thought you might find this interesting and may want to monitor this site.
