Merry XMas from Microsoft Data from Microsoft's Year 2000 Product List. As of 12/26/1999, there are now 935 products listed as having Y2K status changes since 12/01/1999. Most of this number comes from language variations in a product; if a product is available in 12 languages, it will be listed 12 times. There are also a few products that are listed as compliant, such as Windows 2000, recent versions of Media Player, and some games. There were also several hundred products that had negative status changes in November and other recent months, so don't think you're safe just because you don't use anything on this list. Below is the list of products that have had negative status changes since 12/01. At the end is the explanation of what the *, #, and + mean as far as Y2K compliance. Future maintenance actions will be recommended shortly. See Product Guide for further details. Note: Compliance ratings given for each product assume that all recommended actions have been taken. My interpretation of Microsoft's Legend of Symbols in relation to this list: * Usually means that MS has released a new patch to fix some newly discovered Y2K bug. # Some minor Y2K bug has been found which will not be fixed. + A new Y2K bug has been found, which may be major, and MS is working on a patch which will be released at some point in the future. Of particular interest (to me, at least) are the recent status changes in several major application development products. It is possible that the newly discovered Y2K problems could have an impact on applications written using these products. This could have a negative implact on the Y2K compliance of nearly all PC software. Enjoy the new year! Jerry Heidtke

The only thing I can say to this is:

++*#++ **+# #*++ ###**+#

Loosely translated, this means Microsucks. Bill Gates will be on a boat with Kerry Packer in another timezone guarded by Packers Navy buddies. God bless him for being the richest man in the world. Way to go Billy. Did you bother to tell everyone about the diesel generators that you have at Redmond to keep the old lights on? How bout the food and water you have on hand for your Microserfs? Anyone who wants to confirm these facts, ask someone who works there what their prep level is. I'm certain you'll be surprised.

I'm not too impressed with the reliability of Windows 98, and I.E. as it stands, let alone Microshaft's opinion that it will be fine.

I already have problems on a regular basis with it, and only expect it to get worse. I've already given up on getting their free software updates, as they usually cause more bugs.
