I've been thinking about that post from a while back about figuring out a way to make sure propane tanks don't walk off since you can't keep your eye on them indoors. I was wondering would it be possible to bury the tanks (sealed in plastic or in a box, with some hose for venting to the surface)?

Would there be any problems with this?

It's okay to bury them, as long as they won't get too hot. You shouldn't need a vent (if they leak, they aren't much good).

Thanks for the response. The only reason I was going to vent them was so that the gas has somewhere to go if it does leak rather than building up pressure under the dirt.

I don't think they'll get too hot around Jan/Feb.

Interested Spec.; If your not sure about buring the lp gas bottles, then Dollar Store has kitchen trash containers, place them in it and cover with a sheet of plywood just to cover the container. If you have old lp gas bottles, the way you check is to read the date stamped on the handle of the bottle,if it's over 12 yrs old DON"T BURY THEM !!! too old, and the rust will make it easier to loose the gas. Anything else we can help you with ???
