(UPI Focus) Clinton cites possible disruptions WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) - President Clinton said he is concerned that "people who may even be a little crazy" or who "have a political point to make" may try to disrupt millennium celebrations. In an interview to be broadcast on CNN Thursday, Clinton said that's why U.S. law enforcement officials are on a heightened state of alert. He added, however, that he personally plans to go about as usual. "I'm going to do what I normally do," the president said. In the interview taped at the White House Wednesday for CNN's "Larry King Live," Clinton said he was keeping all Cabinet members in town as the new year begins but only "as a precaution" to ensure the computer changeover to 2000 goes without trouble, as expected. "We're here partly as a precaution and partly so if any of our friends in other parts of the world have any trouble we can all be there to give whatever help we can," he said. Clinton also reiterated the caution he has expressed in recent days in urging Americans not to change plans for New Year's and millennium celebrations but to exercise caution and report anything suspicious to authorities. And he indicated the threat of attacks or disruptions is not just from terrorists, as he told the network, "We know that at the millennium, a lot of people who may even be a little crazy by our standards, or may have a political point to make, may try to take advantage of it." "So we are on a heightened state of alert," Clinton said. "No one can guarantee that nothing will happen. But all I can say is we're working very hard....And if it were me, I would not just refrain from activities, I'm going to go out and do my Christmas shopping."
