From CNN's front page story (American's advised to be vigilant):

"Man detained in Bahamas"

"Meanwhile, the federal government is tightening security at its borders, at airports, at its offices and at military facilities."

"The U.S. Customs Service is deploying an additional 650 agents around the country because "clearly we want to be on the safe side" in preventing any act of terrorism, Commissioner Ray Kelly said."

"Kelly said the new postings would focus on remote areas, noting that Ressam "had scouted out our most remote ports." But, he added, the ten percent increase in posted agents was not in response to any specific threat."

"Kelly also confirmed that an unidentified Bahamian man was detained for questioning when he tried to board a Miami-bound plane from Nassau carrying "suspicious materials," including electrical wire and magnets."

"A check of the man's record showed that he was born in the U.S. and was wanted in Texas on an outstanding warrant for a crime involving property damage."

"The man attempted to flee during questioning by customs agents in Nassau, Kelly said. He was flown back to Miami today for further questioning by customs and FBI agents."

"suspicious materials," including electrical wire and magnets."

Last I heard, magnets and electrical wire were still legal. Even together in the same bag. Before you know it, they'll decide to ban high-capacity duct tape dispensers...

Thanks, Deb. Just heard a report that there is an abandoned car containing "suspicious materials" outside Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane. Praying for a false alarm.
