Just finished watching Y2k Small Town America. More spin but they did do one thing different.

The power supply is ok but there is a possiblility of brownouts that is temporary loss of power. Grocery stores large corporate ok but what if the supplies cant get delivered. Swich to trucks and transportation we are ok but but if we cant get fuel. Fuel industry absent. And so it went.

Banks ok and only problem there is power.

One thing I didn't care for was the backhanded way it was inferred that companies made money on peoples fears but that was because they dont understand the problem. Whoa wait a minute something is wrong here. We prepared because we did know too well the problem.

Now the final period was spent informing you of the smart way to handle this and that is to prepare but just buy a few extra non perishible goods per week and dont take your money out of the bank just put aside a few extra dollars as our parents and grandparents did to tide us over on rainy days. Oh and it was mentioned near the end that if this was 1900 how easier it would be when people were not dependent on technology.

Last but not least the government has made great progress on seeing that everything goes on after all isnt it in its best interest.

I didn't see where much of this had to do with small town America but thats ok.

I give it a four on a scale of 1 - 10 in as much as it did point out problems that could occur and then assure us everything is pretty much covered by all the contingency plans in place. At least they did say what they might be.

I suppose better than nothing at all.
