ebay's Y2K Statement

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

*** Year 2000 **

In response to inquiries from several of our community members about the Year 2000, we wanted to take a moment to update you on this issue.

We have been preparing for the changeover from 1999 to 2000. We have assembled a team of professionals to review our mission-critical computer systems, equipment and programs, identify Year 2000 issues and then to take appropriate actions to mitigate or eliminate these problems.

We have completed the primary testing of our core site and mission-critical business processes, and we are taking remedial actions as needed. We have also been working with our essential third party vendors and business partners on their Year 2000 readiness, and we have reviewed their responses and public statements.

We are continuing our Year 2000 readiness programs, focusing on finalizing our contingency plans, conducting data backup and continuing our testing procedures. Based on our work to date, we believe that the performance of our mission-critical systems will not be adversely affected by the Year 2000 date change and that January 1, 2000 will be business as usual.

As always, we want to thank you for your concern on this and other important issues for the eBay marketplace.

Regards,

This is most reassuring, since they can't keep the site up without Y2K problems. Y2K must be going to be an improvement for them then.
