WANTED: HIRED GUNS FOR SCARED CELEBRITIES

By MURRAY WEISS and RITA DELFINER

Some celebs are so jittery about Y2K pandemonium or terrorist attacks on New Year's Eve, they're demanding top-of-the-line bodyguards.

Bo Dietl, the former NYPD homicide detective who runs his own security firm, says some of his rich and famous clients fear run-of-the-mill hired guns won't be good enough to handle potential millennium madness -- they've been clamoring for off-duty or retired cops.

"They want armed, real security, people who are professional and handle guns," he said.

"The millennium has changed all thoughts about safety," Dietl said.

"In the back of everyone's mind, something can happen."

He says New Year's Eve revelers "have to be out of their minds" if they flock to Times Square after last week's arrest of an Algerian extremist at the Canadian-U.S. border.

"The NYPD is prepared. They have a great plan in place, but God knows how many [terrorists] are here," he said.

But William Callahan, head of Unitel, a Manhattan-based international corporate intelligence firm and a member of the State Department's anti-terrorist advisory council, said he'll be in the crowd watching the ball drop.

"You're about as safe in Times Square as you are in your bed because there are so many people there and so many policemen," he said.

"If anything, you'll get kicked by a police horse."

Posted at the same time. :) Love the remark about the horse!

I don't think they have anything to worry about because none of them are symbolic American "greats" such as used to exist like John Wayne. If I were to stretch things a bit with a bit of delusions the one who might be in danger, I think, would be Pia Zadora (Past hubbie too rich and involved in global greed).

I'll bet these are the same celebs who are on the anti-gun bandwagon. Amazing how your stance on firearms changes when you think you might need one.

Gee, shouldn't the authorities do something about these paranoid wackos?

;)

Just in case she's surfin' this site: Me and my Colt Commander are ready and fully able to protect Morgan Fairchild from all threats, foreign and domestic. All she need do is ask...

Coder...what I was thinking! ;)

Servant...yeah.....can't they keep these 'Gun-nuts' locked up??? They are going to be the death of us all! I bet these Gun toting clebs shoot up schools and stuff! Scarey....~shiver~

Buffalo Bob: Last summer my husband and I were extras in a movie that Morgan Fairchild had a small part in. I hate to tell you this, but she has unattractive legs.

-- Pearlie Sweetcake (storestuff@home.now), December 21, 1999.

Coder,

I would almost bet my last dollar you are right.

These are probably the other McGuyvers that are pushing the anti-issue. Ted Kennedy is one of the biggest anti's but do you think for a minute he will disarm his bodyguards ? Anyway, not to start on that topic. It just struck a nerve with me.

Ugly legs are the least of that woman's problems. She looks like she was pulled through a knot-hole by her nose and was finally abandoned after her forehead thunked the fence repeatedly.

~shudder~

LOL! He'll be selling bridges in Brooklyn the next day. What kind of crap is this?

Will Rose O'Donnell's bodyguard be armed...? (She's strongly anti-gun)

-- not (that@we.care), December 21, 1999.

Rosie needs to be hung by her toenails in upside down in a vat of acid. Hell, even kmart (walmart?) dumped her over the Gun issue. Yeah, I bet the Rosie O'Scumbag Gaurdians use lead-weighted Koosh ball to protect their charge...

-- Billy Boy (Rakkasan101st@Aol.com), December 21, 1999.

Sorry Billie Boy, I just saw Rosie on a Kmart Christmas commercial last sunday. Guess my boycott of Kmart is back on... :-(

-- Mark (anvilmark@yahoo.com), December 22, 1999.

I also try to boycott Kmart, but I also buy my guns there. Decent prices. Now does that spell disconnect? I agree with BillyBoy
